Default Car Washing Techniques

So my coworker and I have recently gotten in an argument about the best soap for washing your car...

He says Pantene Pro-V, I say any household detergent...

Given the topic, please share any other techniques/products you guys find effective.

Those have to be 2 of the worst things I have ever heard to use. Dish soap is only used to strip your wax, pantene is for your hair. I use Meguiars Gold Class for mine! Love it

I use Meguiars Gold Class car wash concentrate or Black Magic, and Zymol to wax it.

Wow.. lol. Hair shampoo and dish soap, you guys picked some winners.

Dish soap will only strip your car of everything, which IMO isn't the best thing to be constantly doing to your paint. As for pantene, I have no idea.. but it wasn't designed to clean a car, so I wouldn't use it.

Gold class, a showtime clay bar and NXT wax. All meguires products ftw.

Apparently Dish soap and Shampoo aren't the best soaps to use...thans for everyone who answered earnestly...

Good look on the Meguiars, I've heard good things about it.

just finished doing the 3-step on my car this past weekend
looks great, but the real test is how long its going to last

but yeah, the only time people use dish soap on their car is when they are stripping the wax and prepping for the polish

i use dish detergent when i want to remove all the old wax and what not from the car. It does work better then car wash since its way stronger.

on my new civic i Just use car wash. I clayed the car, and used the deep crystal system with 2 coats of # 3 and after 3 months it starting to wear out but thats ok i plan on waxing for storage anyway. I probably should clay it again but im kind of cheap :/
