Default How much power would this setup provide?

I have a 1991 Accord with an F22A4 engine...The stock airbox is removable without removing the air intake itself. What I am wondering is, how big is the opening of the stock intake and how much power (horsepower and torque) would I get if I replaced the stock airbox with a cone filter that is 6" base diameter, 4" top diameter, 6.75" length?

I do not understand why there isn't a horsepower gain...K&N says they are guaranteed to increase horsepower and acceleration, and K&N themselves said that the OEM-replacement panel air filter in my car provides up to 4 horsepower gain, and I've had some people tell me I am getting 7% gain in torque with it as well. In my car, that's only a gain of 10lb/ft, and I honestly think those are reasonable numbers due to the increased airflow into the engine, so I am wondering if I'll see a bigger gain by removing the airbox and replacing it with a cone filter...

ok...I found the answer...A local ASE-certified mechanic said I could do it, and if I did it I would see between 10 and 15 percent gain, but he said that he would need to check and see if the mass air flow sensor could handle that much airflow before I did the setup. He estimated that it would take about 30 minutes to do the check, but usually he overestimates the time "just to be safe". He said if I tried to do the setup without checking whether the mass air flow sensor could handle it, it would actually mess up the car. So, it begs the question, can the stock mass airflow sensor in the 1991 Accord with the F22A4 engine handle that much increase in airflow?

Wow, do they have a lame Q forum? You will not get a 10% gain off a cone filter. I will tell you what though, go to a junkyard and find an f22a6 (92-93 EX/SE) sitting in a car. rip out the intake manifold, throttle body and stock air box. Apply to your car. Then add your K&N. Crack the valve cover and throw in an a6 cam. Then pick up some headers and a decent exhaust off ebay or whatever. You might get a 20% increase with all of that. Then tell your mechanic to slap himself.
You can do all this for under $400. Not including labor on the exhaust...
