Abnormal Noise Front Left Wheel?
So recently, my 97 Honda Accord LX has been making a wierd noise while reversing or just simply rolling backwards in neutral. It also does it at times when I park on an incline right before the car settles and stops. Only does it with the car in motion going backwards. The noise sounds like a Loud Groan/Moan. Could it be the wheel bearing getting stuck? I can not duplicate the noise with it on a rack.
Do the wiggle test for the wheel bearing. Jack up the wheel and grab it at 12:00 and 6:00. Rock the wheel back and forth, any play?
The groaning noise could be the caliper just shifting. You could see if it's dragging slightly, or just clean up and grease the slide pins. Make sure the piston is not seizng in it's bore also. Does the noise change when you apply the brakes?
If you find out that the wheel bearing is bad, you may want to do the rotors and pads as well.

If your bearings are pressed onto the hubs then just buy new hubs and bearings, press on the new bearings and swap out the entire assy quick, this is the only way I do these now. Yes do a good caliper insp while you are in there.
