replace the switch for the e-brake handle if adjusting it's position does not help.

i had this same problem on my 99. the light wouldnt turn off even when the handle was all the way down. i noticed that my brake pads were starting to squeek so i had them replaced and actually the light went off right away so i would give that a try unless your brakes are fairly new.

Yea, I don't think it's possible, I just changed my brakes about 8000 miles ago. But I will note that next time I do get something like this in the future. Thanks for your response!!!

I would be surprised as hell if it is the switch..

take a look at the brake master reservoir , if it is low on fluid ,the lite will come on,, if plenty of fluid,, you might need a master reservoir cover ,,
if low on fluid ,add fluid and see if lite goes off, Also if low on fluid chk your brakes most likely they are worn ..

Or check this first. Check to see all your brake lights are working. Have someone press on the brakes with and without the parking light on. If all is good, check the brake fluid level. If that is good, there must be something wrong with the switch or sensor.

well first check your brake fluid level..... if that doesnt solve it, check the sensor (it could be loose)....

Well brake lights are good.

Fluid level is about a half inch below the max line. Would that trigger it?

Brakes have been changed so the fluid level has to be the problem.

I will fill it up and let ya'll know what happened. Thanks!!!

u gotta read what he said "sometimes stays on"

low fluid will result in an almost all the time condition where the light stays on. 1/2" below should not trigger the fluid level switch

It could be the master cylinder reservoir filter or the float. Here is the TSB regarding it for your generation Accord:

I had the same problem. My e-brake sign would all of a sudden come on or turn off and come back on. I checked my brake fluid and it was slighly low. Just had to refill it and the sign never came back on .

I did, my friend .. , a low fluid will make the lite come at at times ( going around corners, on turns ) and a bad reservoir switch can make it come on at times as well ..

Alright Fellas, it seems like the light is not coming back on after I topped off the reservior. I guess it's a pretty sensitive system....Thanks to all for your input. Awesome forum!!!

Ok guys...this is the girl techie writing to you.
Problems:
- ebrake light stays on and sometimes flashes
- dome light when doors open ..gone
- buzzer for keys in ignition and headlights on...gone
- Intermittent wiper speed ..gone
- A/C ...no more cold air
- seat belt icon and buzzer ...gone

Solution:
Stop playing with the brake fluid, wiper switch, door jamb switch, master brake cylinder, ebrake switch....its the Mutiplex Control Unit inside the fuse box under the steering column. I own a honda civic 2001 2 door coupe, I just had mine replaced for $150.00 add tax and labour about $250.00.....takes abouit 30-40 minutes to replace. The seventh generation hondas (2001-2005) have 2 fuse boxes, one in the engine compartment under the hood and the other in the cabin compartment under the steering column. The one in the cabin compartment does not control anything major, its an intelligent sensor for detecting the nice bells and whistles that are on our hondas. Its just very annoying when they do not work.

If you go to the Honda dealer they do not have a clue for what is wrong with their product. They wanted to change: the wiper motor ($300), the master cylinder ($400.00 plus labour) spend a few hours playing with the wire stack and all electrical wires (4 hours labour @ $100.00 per hour) to truly eliminate what they considered came from the wiring all around the car and finally replace the handbrake cable....not sure what they would charge for this ...I stopped listening and drove my car out of there. Hope this helps.

Thank you for this advice. Fixed my problem. I was totally stumped on the e-brake light staying on. You know your stuff and thanks again!!
