Default New install....problem with idle...HELP!

Sup everyone,

Did a search and didnt come up with anything that related. Just installed a B16 in my car and it vibrates like crazy at idle (my whole car shakes). Check the timing, it was at 16. When I engage first, it vibrates until 2500 RPM, then its smooth. Also, when I hold a steady speed (any speed), it bogs. When I add a little more gas then is ok, but when i go up a hill, thats when you really feel the lag. I did notice this started right after I put some fuel injector cleaner into the car. Had the car for two weeks prior and there were no sputtering issues.

I'm new to this forum and swaps in general other than helping friends with their cars and none of them can figure out what the problem is. Any assistance is appreciated.

Thanks.

Edit: actually, it vibrates until 2500, LUNGES forward, then its smooth. Feels kinda of like cruise control trying to hold the same speed up a hill, like im not giving it enough gas then lunges when i tap on the gas. Also, needed to add my distributor is bad, when the shop was doing the install, they said one wire was bad but they threw a band aid and it seemed fine after that. new one on the way. Not sure if that was the issue since when the shop fixed the one wire, the idle was fine.

check the vacuum hoses...I'm not sure how to really, but I had the same problem. My bro/mechanic retraced how the vacuum hoses should line up and it's like night and day...

Thanks for the quick reply, ill have to check that. So your bro re-traced the hoses on your car and they were backwards?

Exactly...like it's getting flooded between 1500 and 4000 rpm then it just bogs when you punch it.

Ooops...one more thing...the timing belt install was off a gear too. so make sure to check all this...1. timing belt marks are on the dot 2. vacuum hoses in order 3. sensors and plugs are in good shape.

Good luck bro

EF_LSVtec,

Thanks, for the advice. dont think its the timing or the plugs. plugsand timing belt are new and its hella strong up top, just the low end sputter and and funny idle.

need to check the hoses and sensors tonight. thanks!!
