96 accord with c27 motor
hey guys. my buddy has a 96 accord with the c27 v6 motor. we've been looking around to try and find people who have had this motor and/or know anything about this motor. is there a manual trans for this motor. if anyone has any info this i'd appreciate it. i had the idea that since its a c series motor maybe we could use parts from the c30 but there are a lot of naysayers telling us it wont work. well let me know if anyone has heard anythign on this. thanks.
no, there's really nothing for that motor
there's a few (like 2) people that have swapped out the automatic tranny for a 5spd from like an 89 legend or something along those lines - if you search for it you'll find it.

Hey bud, Thanks for posting the blog on my part. There is a C20, C27a sohc, C30a dohc v-tec, C32(a, a1, a5, a6) all sohc, c32b Dohc (v-tech unknown), and c35a sohc in the series. Of all these 90` v6 blocks, there has to be something interchangable to increase power. If not I may have to buy the C30a engine (stock 270hp/ 210ft. lbs trq.) and sqeeze that into the little accord engine bay with a custom linkage to go with its 6 speed trans. Unsure of where i'll go with it now but I would love advise from anyone with a knowledgeable background to give me any ideas or oppinions on what is becoming a disaster of a project. I apriciate whatever help I can get. Thank you all accord lovers.
Probably have some major fabricating to get a C30A (NSX DOHC VTEC) motor in the front of an Accord. Be a nice build if you have the $5000+ for the motor
That's the approx. price for a used 90' C30A.......1990 Honda/Acura C30A 5spd tranny goes for $1500 on it's own.
That is probably why there are a lot of V6 nay sayers. No one has the cash to try it. Most people will say that it's not worth it in the end..cost vs hp gains..probably right. But if they can get 400+ whp out of a stoc F w/turbo. What's to say you couldn't get 800+ out of a stock C w/turbo. Hell they have titanium rods, I'm sure they could take some boost.

The main problem with those motors (the 5th gen v6's) is that they were sloppily thrown together using parts from different cars to try to compete with the v6 in the camrys, maximas, etc.
And even the 98+ v6 ones were known for having tranny failures.
I dont think it was fully perfected in Hondas at least until the 03+ accords with the v6 motors.

well what about shoehorning a j30 from the newer accord V6's. they make manuals of these do they not? and im sure it would be cheaper than an nsx motor. just another thought.
I thought about doing a V6 swap last year. I did some research and I picked the J32 out of an 01 TL.
There is one on egay right now for $560 shipped....out of Iowa.

how hard would it be to fit that motor in a 96 accord. is there more aftermarket parts available for that motor?

Not accords, but, they might have a better answer for you... There are a few products available for these motors. SC, I.H.E., Aftermarket internals for those that wish to boost.

like i mentioned in the other thread you can put an older j3X engine into either a V6 accord or even an I4 accord. The J series is more compact than either the C27 or F22 used in those cars. I am pretty sure you cannot use the C3.2L from the NSX since I believe it spins in the opposite driection.
what do you mean spins in the opposite direction. no matter which wheels it turns does it not still turn the same direction. im not understanding. and couldnt you just flip the eng around if that was the case. yeah youd have to move **** in the eng bay alot but for an nsx motor in that car. for shear rarity and coolness would be awesome and might as well use one out of a jdm nsx-r if you were gonna go through that trouble. :D
ok so assuming you were gonna go through the trouble of getting custom like everything to mount that eng in your car couldnt you just mount it the other way. and isnt that cuz its a vertically mounted eng instead of horizontal or does that not matter. cuz that part would vaguely make sense to me.
