s2k good car for daily driving?
im thinking about buying a car for daily driving. how many of u guys here have an s2k and ONLY and s2k to daily drive to work/school daily and hows ur MPG
It can be used as a daily although there are better cars. The main issues i have is space and scraping on steep driveways. I avg 27 mpg 75% hwy and the rest city
i think the s2000 is not the best dd. i drove mine last summer as my dd and it wasn't as nice as my subaru now. it sucks coming away from a light as you need to rev it up to get going as there is no torque/power below 6k.
it can be done but there are tons of better cars to chose.

Mine is daily driven and it's my only car. Like stated previously space can be an issue if you need to take anything of any large size anywhere but it's doable. My avg MPG is roughly 26.5 but it's been as high as 32 (3 tanks in a row).
I wouldn't reccomend it, but its doable.
I drive my Dodge everyday, but I could see someone driving the S everyday. Its great in good weather, okay in the wet. I don't know about snow yet, but I'll let ya know!

I DD my car and have a bucket and 4pt too. Sometimes a PITA. If I had the choice and $ it would be a weekend warrior. 4 seats is a must if you have family, or do a lot of "grocery getting".
I searched and found this thread, im thinking about getting rid of my Acura TL for a s2000, I want something less expensive so im going for a used car, I almost bought one a while ago and know alot about them, I know that the TL is the total opposite of a s2k, but anyways I driven a few, a friend has one and it looks like a fun car to own.
Now my question is, has anyone owned a bigger, some sort of a luxury car before buying a s2k? my only worrys are no back seats, no interior room but its not a biggie, because I never use my trunk, or rear seats of the TL ever, buts its just nice to know its there.

i use mine as a grocery getter. 20-25 mpg just depending on how i drive on that tank. but yeah for a daily driver, a bigger car would probably be better. but for now, single, no kids, just school and work = s2000
mines been a daily driver for almost 2 years...and im finally thinking about getting a beater civic or something for my work commute....wouldnt have to tank 93, get better gas millege more space, more comfortable ride i could name a few more things that would be an advantage thats why im looking for a daily commuter....
Not a good idea. If you really wanted to, you COULD have it as your only car, but definitely not a good idea. You can even have a motorcycle as your only mode of transportation (like some members on the moto forum), but you could make your life a lot easier by FIRST buying a daily driver. Doesn't have to be expensive. $1000 Civic will do the trick. Then get whatever you want.
If you can't afford a beater AND an S2000, then you can't afford an S2000.

i have a beater car and a s2k but that doesnt mean i can afford them....so your little theory is disproved
Anyways i personally would not buy an s2k as a dd, only because mine breaks on me almost everyday and i need a garuntee that im going to get to school and work on time, and not have to borrow my parents cars.

I calculated the cost of a beater, as oposed to just keeping my current car.
The added cost of insurance, gas, and maintence on a beater is not worth it for me. It would be worth it if you lived in snowy areas, or the s2k wasn't cutting it room wise.

You also have to add in "wear-n-tear." Sucked when I had to use the S for everyday mundane errand runs, which racked up miles and exposed her to rock chips, door dings, etc. I could care less about any of this when driving the Civic.
There are tons of Civics or Accords that can be bought for less than $2000 (you can find some great deals for ~$1000, too.), which will probably run without any hiccups for a looooong time. Then after you get done with it, sell it for what you bought it for. To me, this is a no-brainer.
But the best reason to get a beater is, because you learn to appreciate the S2000 more. One summer, I drove the S everyday, not even touching the beater. I got so bored of driving it at times, because I got so used to it. Then after driving the beater around, then getting back into the S, it was almost like a reawakening. You really start to appreciate the S.
