94 lx auto, tranny D4 flash?
Okay my mom has this car and she says the D4 light flashes while she is driving it sometimes. I checked the FAQ and basics and didnt see anything there about this. Anyone know what this means, and what is likely to come of it?
Also, I think her o2 sensor may be going south, she gets a check engine light but it goes away briefly when she cuts it off and turns it back on. Any help would be appreciated, I really know nothing about accords.

It could be the tcm that is going bad. the tcm is located on the passenger side, behind the carpet, against the fire wall.it is the smaller one of the two.is the car throwing any codes?
Haven't had it blink anything for me. Not sure how to do that on this car. The only check engine light that comes on goes away briefly after shutting it down. And like mentioned, the tranny light flashes around D4. I'm going off of what she has told me as well. She said sometimes it chugs hard, not sure when she didnt explain.
So this sounds more like a control malfuntion? Not and actual tranny death?

On my 1997 accord there is an wiring clip you tap in to under the glovebox. I believe it is a blue connector. If you short out two of the connections you will get a D4 blink that you look up to find out error codes (if any).
Usually a flashing D4 is a bad TCM or tranny issue. I know this isnt much help, but it gives an idea on what to do.. If you need more specific instructions I can look around for you.

Below the glove box on the passenger side there's a couple connectors held up with blue tape. I believe one has 3 connections and one has 2 connections. The one with 3 is for a data device so we wont worry about that. Make sure your ignition is off and jump/short the ports on the connector with the 2 pin locations. Usually you can just use a paper clip. Once the connector is jumped, dont start the car but turn your ignition to ON. The D4 light on your car should flash in a sequence. The long flashes are counted as 10 and the short flashed are counted as 1. For example, if it flashes 3 times long, and 4 times quickly. You have an error code of 34. Let me know what you get and I'll look it up for you. This process will let you know if your TCM is reporting any identifiable issues.
I think if it comes on and stays solid, your TCM might be toast.

that should help. If you replace the tcm and it's still doing it it could be the transmission solenoid (ask me how I know) BUT if you pull the right code using the instructions on the link you should know if it's the actual tcm OR the solenoids. My problem is it was both. Good luck finding a tcm, your best bet is a junkyard with a warranty on their parts. I got mine from one in Nashville TN pretty reasonably priced shipped ups. Now as for the solenoids, I'm still working on those *ugh*
Just re-read your op, the link I gave may be useless as it only says it applys up to a '93. I don't know if it would be accurate for your moms car. But maybe?
