my GF is selling her prelude and getting a DX hatchback. But the problem is in the picture as well as the description is says sunroof and AC? WTF did the DX ever coem with a sunroof or is this one of those cut-in universal POS's? thanks for the help.

 

Sounds like a description of an Si, not a DX. Maybe they did some custom work though.

 

which year dx? i think only ex's, lx's and si's came with sunroof's. correct me if i'm wrong

 

I've seen a few DX's where the dealer installed sun roofs if the person wanted one when purchasing the car.

 

4 real, i thought only the Si/Ex, and the LX had them. That is why i am baffled, must be a damn universal/cut into sunroof!! that sucks. we will just have to see.

all of u are wrong, si's and ex's all came with a moonroof. none of the dx, hx, cx, or lx civics came with sunroofs. any cars with this level that u see w/ roofs are either aftermarket junk or dealer installed after the fact(after it leaves that plant). ex and si are the ONLY civics with o.e. moonroof installed where the car was assembled.

Correct about only the Si/EX Civics having moonroofs.

As for "dealer installed" think again. Most if not all delaers send cars out to have the sliding moonroofs installed, and it's usually a pretty good job if done by ASC or the likes.

If it's a pop-up **** roof, then I'd say steer very far from that.

I't's either an aftermatket roof or an Si hatch.

As for A/C, nonne of the 1992-1993 Civic hatches came with A/C from the Honda factory. THAT truly was a very popular dealer-installed item.

Not even the Si hatch had A/C std. in 1992-1993. Perhaps in 1994-1995, but for sure not 1992-1993.

when i said dealer installed, i did not mean that the dealer themselves put in the aftermarket sunroof, i meant that u pay them a price and they will find a way to get it in there, guess i worded it wrong. and yer right about the asc company sunroof, it is pretty good from what i saw. my bro has a 2001 sentra and they put an asc sunroof in and the focker is one touch like the vdubs! .

No such thing as OEM sunroofs when it came to the 92-95 civics, an aftermarket shop had to install the sunroofs for the SI's.

 

What are you talking about? Are you meaning there were no SUNroofs or do you really mean that there were no 1992-1995 Civics with MOONroofs?

Are you just picking on the guy for calling it a sunroof, or do you not know that all 1992-1995 Si and Ex Civics had the power roof feature?

 

my cousin has a '96 DX hatch with an OEM moonroof.
he bought the car new and it had the moonroof already in it.

 

i wish my car had a sunroof, i'm actually looking into getting one put in...

i had a sunroof put into my old car and it never leaked, nor did i ever have any problems with it... just a lil opinion on putting one in.

 

My understanding of OEM is Orginal Equipment from Manufacturer. Since Honda doesn't make or install sunroofs, all 92-95 civic ex/si's have aftermarket sunroofs, not OEM. I'm also picking on him because he's saying that if you want a sunroof, buy a car that has one already...meaning aftermarket sunroofs suck. That's fine if you like getting charged dealer mark up. Sunroof install and parts total to about $800 while the dealer will charge you $1500-2K extra for it.

 

AC is standard in the DX. THe sunroof was optional. My friend has a 94 dx HB with the sunroof.

The cars are MANUFACTURED from Honda with the moonroof already in the car. This applies to EVERY USDM 1992-1995 Civic Si/EX.

I'd say that there is absolutely nothing "aftermarket" about it.

...And as far as USDM Civic DX hatches/coupes go, a moonroof was NOT an option. Not from Honda anyways - maybe a "dealer-installed" option as mentioned before where a dealer ships the car to a company like ASC or something.

...And I can tell you that in 1992-1993, NONE of the hatches came with A/C off the assembly line. Maybe after they arived at local dealers the dealer added Honda A/C, but it was not a standard feature.

A standard feature is something that the car has right off the assembly line. These things can be seen listed in sales brochures and what-not.

The DX NEVER had a factory Honda moonroof. I've checked some sales brochures as well as knowing from working at 3 different Honda dealers, so where is this info coming from?
