Default Oil Change at dealer

My oil percentage is almost at 5 percent and I think its time for an oil change. Like every other new car they give you a free oil change at the dealership. I want to switch to mobil 1 synthetic but i was wondering if the dealership would use that oil if I bring it to them? I will pay extra but just want to know if they would do that. Plus am I allowed to watch them change my oil because I heard too many stealerships using their own oil and keeping the ones you bought to be used. Anybody can help me?

Yes, you can watch them at most places, upon request and approval. Also, realize, once you go synthetic, there's no going back. As for paying extra, you should pay less, you bought the oil already. All they are doing is the labor and supplying the filter, which they do anyway. I always insist on watching, and I dont even bring my own oil. But I dont trust anyone but myself with my car. The only reason I take it to the dealer is so I have records for my car.

Says who? Someone on the internet?

There are so many misconceptions about synthetic oil, it's not even funny.

There's no harm in going back to regular oil after running synthetic. But why? Synth is just better.

Ive done alot of googling about the switchback to dyno oil after using synthetic. There is nothing that says you CANT go back but theres alot to suggest that is not recomended.

Most dealerships have a "quick lane" or "express service" lane for oil changes. I don't see why they wouldn't let you bring in your own oil to have them change it. And you should be able to watch them change your oil with no problem being that it's YOUR car.

we have a express service as well. People bring their own oil and filters daily. We just deduct the price of it out of the regular price.

What kind of oil do you recommend and what filter to use? What is the difference between 5w-30 and 0w-30. I need a oil change soon so which one should I buy? Also what filter can fit an fg2?

doesn't really bother me. some people don't like it. I end up getting into a conversation with the customer and a perfect oppertunity to upsell without the writer f-ing it up. guys come back 3 months later and request me to service the vehicle and i got some trust.

I use 5/30 mobile 1 syn with a Mobil 1 filter. I was told to save the money on the filter and just use a fram ins ted of the mobile 1. Im not sure what the diff is so I still use a mobile 1 filter. it also depends on the climate in your area, here in MD 5/30 is the best year round IMO.
