hello everyone... i've been having issues with my car lately.
my car cranks and everything has power. but it wont start.
i just put in a new alternator, starter, battery, main relay, and i know the ecu is fine. there are no draws anywhere because i used a volt meter and took out fuse by fuse. everything seems to be fine. i even added an extra ground wire in case that was the issue. still nothin.
right now there is NO SPARK and NO FUEL.
has anyone ever heard of such a thing or dealt with something similar to this??? im seriously out of ideas.
thanks tons - jackie

What do you have done to your car? what engine do you have? 5 spd or auto? do you have subs and amps or anything like that?

i have subs... but i disconnected them. thinking i had a draw there. but i didnt. its still disconnected tho. and its a b18a1. 5 speed of course. (auto is for sissy's - i feel bad for any of u who drive automatic.) lol. need to know anything else guys? im up for any suggestions.
on my crx the ignition switch is partially broke. so if i just put the key in and turn it certain things will come on but the car wont start because the fuel pump doesnt come on. i usually have to push the key in give it a good wiggle then it will work. and the only way i figured that out was with the gauge cluster lights(mainly the check engine light) not coming on or blinking.
also my starter relay went bad so i hooked up a push button start, since i was going to do that anyway.
but if you put the key in and turn it and all the usual gauge cluster lights come on then its more likely the starter relay.
if you still have your battery in the stock location in the engine bay its easy to check. just turn your car all to the on position and be sure you put it in neutral. take a piece of like 8 gauge wire and connect it to your positive battery teminal. now touch the other end to the momentary power terminal on the starter were your starter relay wire hooks to. if that does it then your relay is bad, if not then check and make sure that your ignition switch is fully functional. good luck

i already tried hooking up a wire from the battery straight to the starter. and still nothing. but then... wouldn't u assume that the starter is messed up.. right? but i had it tested and its not. yet the starter does absolutely nothing when i turn the key to start the car.
and to be straight did you have the car in the start/on position? at first i thought it was the starter until i realized my ignition switch was messed up but once i got the switch to power everything on and tried jumping from the power terminal to the momentary terminal on the starter is started up perfectly.
but if the starter does engage at all i would think it was the starter being that the relay is being bypassed if you hook it up to the to just a power source

i hooked it directly to the battery and still nothing. thats y i dont know what to think right now. but when i turn the key to the start/on postion. the only thing that happens is the typical lights in the car and the door ajar beeping.
Where did you hook it on starter? To the little spade connector is the correct spot not the big connection towards the front.
check the rubber/plastic button on the back of the clutch pedal. Mine did the same thing and I found that rubber piece on the floor board.

about the button on the back of the pedal. how much does that cost to fix? do u know? cuz my dad thought that might be it too. i didnt check that yet tho.
and when you powered it off the battery you hooked it to the terminal with the spade connector and not the battery terminal on the starter correct? because to me if that doesnt engage the starter then the problem lies in your starter. i mean it shouldnt be a ground problem since it grounds to the motor and the motor and tranny are both grounded. it cant be power since the battery connects straight to the starter and main fuse block. and it is powered from the relay but bypassing the relay and powering it from the battery would start it if the starter was good. how is the condition of the main power wire from your battery to the starter? did you put a voltmeter to it to be sure there was a constant current to it? other then that im out of suggestions adn i would think it was just a bad starter, sorry i cant be of more help
the clutch pedal switch doesnt affect whether or not the starter will engage when you power it directly off the battery. powering it directly from the battery will engage it unless the starter is bad or a dead/low battery of course. to check if you have a problem in the ig. switch, relay, or clutch pedal switch try turning your car to the on position with the clutch pedal fully pressed in like you are going to start it and have someone check for a power at the spade terminal of your starter with a voltmeter.

yea... i definitely had the clutch all the way down. but they are right about the direct power. ill have to try that. my first guess was the relay... but i guess direct power isnt gonna do anything unless i give it to the right side of the starter. lmao. i thought i tried both. but ima try again to make sure when i get home.
im willing to bet your ignition switch is bad, or shorting out, and might be putting a draw on your battery.
take off your negative battery terminal and take a test light and connect the clip from the light to your negative cable. and touch the test light probe to the negative terminal. if the light lights up then u have a draw somewhere.

just in case tho. u guys said the starter relay is where? right by the hood pop inside the car??? is it in the fuse box... or somewhere else???
check ur grounds..if they tested it and its good, and u say u put power to and it doesnt spin...it needs a ground. try to hook up ur own ground using aligator clips. this way u bypass the ecu for ground. it better go on. if not then the stater is bad. good luck....
