Default 75$ ebay HID kit review

I recently bought an ebay hid kit from the seller hidgate. IT is a 5k h4 kit. I was pleasantly surprised with the kit when I saw there was a second bulb for highbeams. The kit looks nice and the wiring is thick, and plug and play. There is no way for you to mess up with the wiring. When I installed the kit, one of the ballast was defective. It would power on the highbeams when its supposed to be on lows. When I switched to highbeams in my car, the one side would switch to lows. Therefore I have headlights that were out of sync. I had to take off the kit and install the stock bulbs. Now hopefully the seller will send me a good ballast.

You get what you pay for. That's why there are companies out there with "big names" because they proved there products. Sometimes you can get lucky as like you bought $75 hid and they last about acouple months. I think it's worth the money but then again they can burn up your wiring.

The H4 halogen high hid low kit I got (under 100 bucks shipped) for the big meet worked wonderfully beyond the pin for the ground and the pin for the high beam swapped which was an easy fix.

I've heard lots of reports of having to reverse the wiring polarity when used with H4 kits on cars that use a negative ground for high beam switching.

Cheap@$$ junk kits that aren't even wired properly

it's too late for this but... hopefully you thought of this and there is a simple reason why you can't... but why not simply switch the high and low beam on the one that's backwards? (switch the input to that side not the output of the ballast)

I don't know what the wiring looks like, but I'd think there has to be a way to switch it.

The best kits are the oem kits.
Any aftermarket where you have lines that connect straight to the bulb and then to the ballast are bad.
Once a bulb goes bad you got to buy another kit.
It is a big hassle in a sense

Buddy im' in the same boat. I bought from ebay super_digi and all 3 of the kits iv'e bought within 6 months for me and freinds all of our ballasts were defective!!!!

I checked thoroughly and was 200% sure the ballsts were defective, He made me pay $20 to ship the ballast back to china, i waited 1 MONTH! for the ballast to come in. As for my buddies, he did not send us anything. He ignored every e-mail every question. It says clearly no hassle warranty, yeah right.

Never ever buy Chinese made kits, german IMO are much better,

NEVER EVER EVER BUY FROM EBAYER SUPER_DIGI. I swear to god he does not stand behiond his products, all of his ballasts are bad, there even one time i bought a 4300k kit and he sent one 4300k bulb and one 6000k bulb two opposite colors

Alright guys, heres the real scoop on the whole HIDS an ebay Honda Tech, etc. Dont be fooled because of the price, $75bucks $100bucks sound good. But what you dont now is these kits only have about a 1500 hour life spand. I live and work in Yokahama Japan producing Top of the line HId Kits for all the major companys like Phillips, Catz and Piaa. We design and produce the HIds for all of the Factory Japanese cars. Our shop here Japan sells these kits for a very reasonable price with a real lifetime warrenty, no limited lifetime. All of the ebay HIDS and soforth are made in Taiwan and China. You may purchase and be satisfied for the moment but they will not last long and your back at point A

yeahhh Philips stuff is made in Germany, for European cars. I'm pretty sure Japanese cars do not use Philips components, and I know for a FACT that Philips does not produce, and never had produced, any kind of "kit" for any sort of aftermarket purpose.

Any "kit" that's labled as Philips is fake. It may have Philips ballasts or other components, but in no way was it meant by Philips to be offered as part of a kit. Philips makes OEM components only, to be used in OEM HID applications only.

I have Philips ballasts and bulbs in my retrofit, but I bought everything as OEM replacement parts, not as a "kit".

Well my friend obviously you have never been to Japan, We sell products to many different countrys and all types of companys. You just need to stick to USDM and continue on. Japan produces stuff that even if you saw with your own eyes you still wouldnt believe it. Its technology, we are 20 steps ahead of the US. Germany uses Japanese parts on there cars, for example seatbelts.

Phillips, GHC, and some others are pretty good brands. With EBAY you never know. Most of the time its a "you get what you pay for type of thing"

With the way the wiring is, you cannot mess up the installation. The kit has male and female ends so you can't just switch around and plug them with each other. Trust me I sat around for 2 hours trying to figure it out. I switched the ballast from 1 side to the other with no help at all.

This is true. Ebay is get what you pay for and its made in china like the xs power turbo stuff and you see how great that works. If you are intrested, Check out what Hids have have available, they are made here in Japan, they are what honda, toyota and nissan use factory and put there name on it. Here is the link, pics will be up soon. Email me at Jdmparts00@aol.com for any Used Japanese parts decals etc.

And your point? The fact is still that Philips does not sell any kind of HID "kit" for aftermarket application. They sell OEM HID components only.

If it's labeled as a Philips "kit", then it is fake. End of story.

Note on the Xenon HID page of the Philips USA website:

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Philips &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Xenon HID bulbs can only be used in vehicles that have HID lighting systems. They cannot be used as an upgrade in conventional headlights.</TD></TR></TABLE>

They do NOT make or sell any kind of rebased xenon bulb for use in halogen headlight assemblies.
