Default Header question

I have a 1997 accord se non-vtec and Im looking to get a header for it and i have a couple of questions....

1. Will the Greddy header for the ex fit on my se?

2. If I get an h22 swap will the new header for the old motor fit on the new motor?

V6 or I4

I'm guessing that you have the 4 cylinder I4 F22B2. Only because it's obvious that the headers for a V6 would not fit on a I4.

1. Yes the F22B1(EX) header will fit on the F22B2(SE)
2. No the F series header will not properly fit on an H.

If you mean odd as in the 0-00-0 configuration then yes they are odd.

I know that the F22a1 will bolt up to an H23. I'm not personally familiar with the F20B specs. Someone else will have to chime in for that info.

I dont know cause my friend blew his engine and had to get a new one. He blew an F22B2. He had Honda replace the motor. Honda told him that it wasn't the original motor that he blew, but thats the motor he got it with so we arent sure what comes in it...

His dad led him on to believe that he was going to replace the F22B2 with and H22A2, but when I was looking at the new motor I realized that it was an F22B6 which is whats in there now. When I told my friend about it he was very pissed. He asked his dad about it and his dad said that an H22A2 was gonna like $6000 whereas the F22B6 was like $3000-$4000 (I forget).

So now my friend is looking to do a few upgrades to his car until he can get an H22 swap in the spring

It makes no sense to spend money on his F22B* engine that he's going to take out in less than a year.....but that's just my $.02 worth. I'm guessing that your buddy is not doing any of this work himself. $6000 for a stock H swap isn't worth it either, IMO. You could buy a used C30a1 w/tranny (DOHC V6 NSX) for that price. Not that the C30 would work in an Accord..... just a price comparison.

Tell him not to waste his money on upgrade parts for the F22B* motor. He should find out what the H swap is going to cost him. Then start buying/saving for performance parts for that engine. If he wants to spend his money that's his choice, all the F22b*'s parts are interchangeable but they will not fit the H when he does the swap.

Yea cause thats what he wants to know...

What upgrades can he buy for the motor he has now that he can swap over to the new motor when he gets it....

Plus his dad bought the new engine for him and since his dad screwed him over he wants this new motor but he wont be able to afford it until the spring

IC, Well I know for sure that none of the head stuff would be interchangeable.. Intake manifold, Headers, cams or valve train. He may be able to get away with reusing an aftermarket catback exhaust system and a cold air intake. If he's going to get AM exhaust make sure it's 2.5 or bigger so that it will work well with the H. These would be safe mods that could be swapped over to his H.

There may be some more small stuff that someone else may be able to add to this list.

All the SEs were essentially LX's with alloys, sunroof, and keyless - they had the F22B2 non vtec motor and were all automatics.

And honda would not have replaced the motor with an H22 - they'd have put in the F22.
