Default S2K or Trans am, which to buy??

Hi, i am in the market for a car and have come to a decision: a torqey V8 Trans Am, or a little four banger S2K, i know both cars have their advantages and disadvantages, but my question is, will the top end performance of the S2K really make up for the low end torq of the LS1 in the Trans am?

i think you honestly dont know what you want since you are deciding between the two. for one your logon is says a lot, 2 u came to a S2000 forum asking what we think. 3 both are totally different cars.

That's like comparing a scalpel to an axe.

Both are fine tools, but which is better depends on what you want to do. Most S2000 buyers didn't cross-shop F-bodies, so responses are going to be pretty sarcastic.

if you have to ask, you shouldn't be allowed to have one.

WOW im speechless. if you have a tatto of a confederate flag and a thick accent just buy the transam, if you want a nimbal and baller car that picks up lots of honeys get the s2000. just boost it then gizz all over that transam garbage(in all departments).

Well your name says trans am man so i think you already have decided on what you really want.

The cars are two different cars as the others mentioned. Depends on what you want to do. How much money you have. Are you going to want to mod the cars. If you want to road race and not mod then i would get the s2000 will be better out of the box. But if you want to road race and mod a little i would get the TA. There are some great suspension packages out there for Fbody's.

Or just what this guy is doing. Best of both worlds haha.

Well that statement is pretty ignorant and has no facts to back it up beside that it is an American car.

Both cars can be quick around the road course. Both can be made to be quick down the 1320. All depends on how much money you have and what you want. Both are nice looking cars IMO.

1/4 LS1 hands down. heads and cam puts Fbodys into the 11s. 6-10psi puts it in the 10s with a good driver. LS1 is extremely stout and can handle alot of power

everything else. s2k ftw. better DD, class, resale, corners, mpg.

I would double check you thoughts on the s2k getting better MPG. Many many fbodys with the M6 get high 20's

dont get me wrong LS1's are indeed beefy and can make the power but you can not compare the 2 cars....

a S2K with a turbo set up alone will pu tit in the 11's on pump and 10's on race gas..

they get mid 20s on the freeway doing 70. my buddy has an 04 gto M6. and gets about 23 on the freeway. driving through town is a different story. and when your foot goes in it, changes the ball game. its in that 12-15 area.

iv seen vidz of turbo s2ks putting down high power. but the cost factor is crazy. that 10k+ area.

heads/cam is 2-2500 and make 400rwhp

Well your buddy is one person and i also know people with m6 ls1's (i know his isnt a ls1), they do high 20's so we both know people. I am not saying it cant be a gas hog. Just stating they two can get can get the same MPG. I also know people with s2000's and when you put your foot down and like to bring it up in the rpms, they arent the best either.

Like i said it just comes down to what you want and how much money you have. The OP is more then likely already sent in his ways seeing his name. But im bored.

People who think the Trans Am can't handel need to pull their heads out of their ***. It might not be as nimble as an S2000, but they have plenty of grip, little body roll, and with a few tweaks makes great auotcross/road race cars. Not to mention in stock form they will absolutely destroy an s2000 in terms of acceleration, while getting about the same mpg.

The s2000 is definitely the "nicer" car though. The interior materials, fit/finish, and build quality of the f-bodies leaves much to be desired.
