Default h22 ring install

I am putting my h22 together the cylinder and bore look good. the only thing i am wanting to know is, when i put the rings in other engines i have rebuilt i use a hone to scuff up the sleeves so the rings will seat. the h22 has frm sleeves which you have to have special hone to do that with. what do i do, i fear that if i don't hone then i will have huge oil use. i maybe wrong but what do you guys do to put rings in h22 engine

I can't speak for H22's with the FRM because i have never done one. However, you are correct with the fact that the rings will not seal properly if the cylinders are glazed. I do not rebuild engines without atleast honing them. Search for a machine shop that can do them, it took me forever but i eventually found one in MD, which is 200 miles from me. Good Luck.

It was suggested to me to use a scotchbrite pad. I have not done mine yet but am planning on it. The suggestion came from a couple different people one being a Honda mechanic. Not that he might be the "all knowing" but it does help his credibility to me. I've heard of folks doing this on other budget rebuilds. Any thoughts anyone?
