Default How much is a head swap

hey guys it me again askin another noob question.. how much is a head swap gunna run me?(along with putting in the ecu.. etc) I WANT VTEC!!!!!

getting the parts... $500-$1000.. installed and labor..roughly $1500... mine will be that much... but ill build, install, and tune for bbetter response..

I don't know why people bother doing this unless they do the work themselves.

Paying the enormous labor charges for a paltry 12HP is money better spent towards forced induction or a K-swap.

wow! that much for everything? damn... i did everything for less than 600 including vafc..

A head is like $150, the ecu is like 75. Buy a $60 vtec solenoid and find a wiring harness (I've seen em for 40 or 50 bucks), a $20 head gasket and $115 ARP studs and you're off and running.


I have the head and the ecu sitting here.

I hope u know the gains will be minimal.

Vtec isnt necessarily as potent as people make it out to be, at least on your 1.7L.

it is more towards fuel ecconomy.

IMO do what u said previous, save ur $$ for a turbo.

hey susuking.... is it really that expensive?? cause if its gonna be 600 bucks then ill do it but it sucks because they dont make aftermarket internals for non-vtec cars
