Default grinding drivers side front???? help...

i tried searching... when i hit 2.5k rpm it makes a bad sounding grinding noise. its not just when i shift or anything. it happens even if i just stay at 2.5k. it also doesnt matter what gear i'm in, but i notice it more in lower gears. i have an 02 lx auto with only 20k miles. do i have a serious problem on my hands here? thanks.

need a better description.... and whether or not the car is throwing a code. if you just sit at a given RPM and the car grumbles at you, it may or may not be some kind of ignition error/breakup. Does it do it at any load? or just cruising. If you hold it there and then stomp the gas does the transmission slip or go?
Sounds are often difficult to diagnose on the internet, especially something that is a "grinding noise". Take it to someone local and have someone feel the car out.

Does it do it sitting in park or just driving? sounds like you got a tranny problem possibly, theres a certain amount of pressure the engines putting on the tranny maybe making it do that. Thats my uneducated opinion. Good luck with it though!

i know i'm it is very difficult to tell exactly what it is without getting right in there. i'm just kind of curious to see how much this is going to cost me. all i've noticed is that anytime i'm right around 2.5k ir makes this really ugly sounding grinding noise. if i hold it there or when i'm just accelerating through, it just makes the noise in that range. it doesnt matter how hard i'm hitting the gas. it also makes a similar noise when i hit a heavy bump on the front driver's side, but i've only noticed that at low speeds. thanks for any help.
