H.I.D.!!
Yeah I'm looking to buy some HID for my 5th gen. I was wondering if any of you guys know of any reliable and cheap internet sites to buy HID. I was thinking of going along the line of phillips or HELLA, but I am open to other brands. So if you have any other suggestions, please tell me. If any of you have HID on your 5th gen, can you tell me where you mounted the ballasts (pictures greatly appreciated) Thanks!
Most people will tell you to stay away from aftermarket HID kits. Let it be because our halogen housings can't handle HID light and thus this will create glare and a horrible beam pattern. It also creates a bad focal point because HID bulbs are generally larger so they hit the reflector. So most people have to create spacers to move the bulb back or bend the reflector itself.
Recently another company has released an H1 kit that has custom bulbs that are smaller and give you an optimal focal point. So if you were to get any kit I would get this one, just a tad more expensive though. http://www.xenondepot.com
Another method is retrofiting oem projectors from a BMW or Audi. There is one certain individual on http://www.preludeonline.com that can do this for you. But this method is the most expensive, but the beam pattern is perfect and looks sweet.
As for mounting, people usually just mount in the engine bay or my friend took his bumper off and mounted it in that area as well. sorry no pix
