Default Aftermarket Steering Wheel with 4WS

Does anyone have a 'definitive' answer on exactly what needs to be done to fit an aftermarket steering wheel to a 4th Gen Lude with 4WS?

There is a lot of sketchy information out there, with some people saying that modification needs to be made to the hub adaptor etc to accomodate the 4WS sensor behind the steering wheel. Somebody must have successfully done this

is the 4ws steering angle sensor inside the wire-de-tangler-majig
i forgot the name
wire spool?

if it is...you can modify an aftermarket hub that has things to latch onto the protruding parts of the spool so the spool still turns along with the steering wheel

when i got a 5th gen (by accident) hub....the hub fit over the spool and latched onto it...but the splines were just different
it was just a plastic peice on the hub that had a hole for the protruding part of the spool to go into

yea i know its hard to visualize

the same thing as has to be done on a 5th gen with 4ws..
didnt someone say this on PUK already?

have a look at the s2000 steering wheel into a 5th gen VTi (BB8 4WS) thread on PUK and you'll see what has to be done.
the same principle can be applied to the 4th gen.

either that or ditch the 4ws cause it's problematic and sucks

Thanks Gavz, I can't log onto PUK in work, but will check it out later.

My 4WS has never given me any problems, so would like to keep it if I can

For reference, I just found some useful info here http://www.ntpog.org/mods/fift...shtml

Taffy.
