Remember the NATCC Back in '96 & '97 ? (pics and video intense)
What ever happened to the North American Touring Car Championship? I recall watching them on TV along with BTCC races in the late 90's. It was similar to the BTCC, but ran as support series to CART. They raced at some good street circuits and tracks and it was great watching a Dodge Stratus mixing it up with Ford contour's, Opels and BMW's and Honda Accord's. They had like over 300hp 2.0L engines 4 + 6 cyl, and sequential gearboxes and were quite fun to watch !! I've never had the chance to see them in action live though.Im also curious as to where all these cars are now ?
Anyway, what happened to that series? It only lasted 2 measily years !
I heard that they were way too expensive to run compared to World Challenge-type touring cars. That, coupled with a lack of exposure (no TV time) spelled doom
Anyways heres some pics and videos of the cars that competed.

Cool pics. I wasn't into road racingback then. I was hardcore drag racing, since my uncle was running the NHRA TAFC class.
