Exhaust too loud, what can i do? silencer? change exhaust?
Hi relatively new at this, so bare with me pls. I just bought a 93 si hatch with jdm b16. It came with an exhaust/pipes all the way back, Ive done some searching, but cant figure out what kind of exhaust it is and if theres is anything i can do about the noise, its just too loud and attracts too many cops (gotten a couple of warnings, only had it for a week).
If anyone can identify it and kno if they make a silencer that will fit this? or should i just replace the exhaust with something else? if so any suggestions? Any suggestion/help would be appreciated, thanks guys.

like they said get a resonator... that just looks like a custom pipe job and muffler... not anything special... if you want a quieter sounds and you are willing to get a different exhaust and spend $600 the apexi World Sport 2 exhaust would be the way to go.
yea the WS is nice, but is there anything temp i can do? like a silencer? or is that out of the question cause its a no name muff? the ones ive found seems to be too big. thanks
More confirmation... get a resonator. That exhaust sure looks like an ES. I have 2.25 dia pipe and an 18" resonator... its not too loud, but its not quiet. You can serach the marketplace for RSX and 06/07 SI mufflers. I have seen them for 60+

Yea resonator looks like the way to go without having to get a new exhaust system. Should i just get a 22'? or does it depend on ur pipe size? plus any brand recomendation? and how much does does it usually cost labor wise?
thanks guys
thanks guys
do u guys know if any resonator (18'-22') will fit on any catback? or does it matter cause of ur pipe size? thanks
I was pulled over for my exhaust not to long ago. I ended up talking to the performance shop by my house and getting a Vibrant "stealth" muffler. It's quieter, sounds a hell of a lot better, and i felt a little more pedal response because i think the old exhaust was TOO open. I would check out Vibrant mufflers.

O RRY?
Thats a broad overstatment.
Not all Catbacks are loud, only cheap ones, and ones designed to be loud.
Apexi WS2, Greddy evo, mugen twinloop, tanabe, and many other systems (or mufflers) are designed with a dignified sound in mind.

4 Sure get the resonator that is a must for any Honda. Nice exhaust or not. People just laugh when they see a Honda that sounds like it is going 100mph in a 25 zone.
the exhaust looks already loud...and the shiny part is gonna draw the wrong attention and get pulled over....
change it...

as long as the diameters of the resonator and exhaust piping match there's no problems

I agree, best sounding exhaust I've heard. Save some money and do it, loud exhaust make you look like an idiot. I don't think there's much you can do for a quick fix on what you have.

Yea i did alot of research and it seems the best result would deff be a resonator. I guess i can try that and if it still too loud then get a vibrant stealth exhaust.
My questions now would be is there any diff between the resonator size? (14"-22") is it just bigger size less noise?
Is there a certain brand thats better? or are they just all sorta universal and dont make a diff?
Plus has anyone had this done and knows an estimate for the labor?
thanks guys
