Default Need A PRo for some advice on my MOtor

Aight i GOt a 2 door 94 civic and just had it checked out. It keeps over heating. The honda place told me that its because i have a busted headgasket. Also a knocking in the bottom of the engine. my 3rd cylinder has low compression of about 90 psi and im told it should be around 130 psi. I dunno what to do. I have a mechanic whos willing to send out the the head and get the headgasket fixed and we havnt talkd about the knocking and the third cylinder yet. My main goal is to get the old civic fixed so i can drive it 70 miles a day without it overheating.

Ok so i took it from honda because they are going to try and charge an arm and a leg but they would gaurentee it. My other choice is to get another engine.! or get another car. I dont wanna get another car i would like to fix this problem in the original engine but dont wanna spend the money on fixing it if its just gunna happen again. IS my best bet to get another engine. or to fix the existing car IF IT CAN BE FIXED AT ALL FOR A DECENT PRICE.

LAst question my mechanic jerry rigged my radiater fan switch. HONda told me that it is really not a good way to go. MY mechic said its better to do in these older type of cars.
CAr has 140,000 miles

buy another d16 bottom end for cheap and swap everything over to it & install a new headgasket.
if the main bearing is knocking & needs replaced, you'll have to remove the engine anyways.

fan switch should not be rigged to stay on all the time. that is just a bandaid solution, not solving the problem of overheating due to a bad headgasket

if it's knocking now, it will still be doing the same after you replace the fan switch. I'd start looking for a bottom end right now
