Putting a washer in the Upper Control arm to Prevent hitting the tower?
after lowering my car, the front upper control arm are hitting the body shock tower mount.
Can I put some washers in between the control arm bolt to bring it down a little bit?
I thought putting some washers in the bolt will bring the control arm down and will prevent the arm from hittiing the shock mount.
Has anybody done this before?

i dont see how that would change anything.
youd have to shorten the knuckle to accomplish what you want. which ive yet to hear anyone do.

i think if I put some washers in the control arm bolt it will lower the control arm itself...but i guess you got a point. it will not buy me much.
i will probably raise my coilovers a little bit to avoid this issue.
thanks

The part of the UCA that hits the shock tower is the outer end, where the ball joint attaches to the knuckle. The clearance between the end of the UCA and the shock tower is determined by ride height and knuckle height.
Adding washers to the UCA bolts would only serve to increase the angle of the UCA with respect to the ground, which would actually add a touch more negative camber. But the clearance between the ball joint end of the UCA and the shock tower would remain unchanged for the most part.
Only way to increase clearance is to raise the car up, shorten the knuckle like tyson said, or modify the shock tower itself (cut out holes, weld in new sheet metal to create more clearance).

that's a very clear explanation...thanks man.
i have used this same coilover setup with my last 3 civic and I don't experience the UCA hitting the shock tower.
Is it possible this knuckle(came out of 92 civic EX 4dr) is longer than other regular 92-95 civic 4dr knuckle?
I think I can score some knuckle from the junkyard for cheap but I'm not sure if they are the same length and will not do anything.
I will be raising up my car about 2 inches...

How low are you sitting? Raise the car up to fix your problem. Also, check your shock and LCA bushings if only one side is affected.
I think im really low..I scratched on small bump in a straight road.
I can barely put my shoes in the front bumper in a straight line. no lip or anything.
i did the fork trick and I set the coilovers to the lowest setting.
anyways, I removed the fork trick and raised the coilovers to about 1/2 an inch and it works perfect now. No hitting the tower mount and ride was improved.
although the tires were not as tucked as before...but I guess it's ok.
