greddy 18g w/ bigger injector
hi. i am installing 18g kit on my 98 ls and just wondering. i bought the kit fairly used but in good condition however it did not come with couple stuff so i bought extra things.... which one of them were 440 rc injectors..... i know the kit uses 310 injectors but will there be a problem with using 440s??? also how do you guys recommand wiring the blue box to ecu??? i need it until i get a standalone unit..... (i suck at soldering by the way) i was thinking about using the plastic wire clamp thing from radioshack since i dont really wanna cut ecu wiring much..... any suggestions???
also in the blue box theres b/c in and out wire.... i think its green and some other color.... do you just basically cut that wire off and connect from ecu to blue box and blue box to map???
the blue box is programed for the smaller injectors. you'll be running real rich with 440's. i'd either chip your ecu or run a safc/vafc at the least. yes you can run splice connectors although soldering is safer in the long run.
don't be like me and put things on when your kit isn't completed. that's how **** breaks and cause you to spend more money.
piece together every single bit before you put it on, and then get it dyno tuned for best results.
as GA said, the bluebox is programmed to use the 310's that was supposed to be included, which is why you can't use it anymore. 440's will be good, but you should get your car tuned for it and not go with some chip.
in the end, after all my bullshit and drama, i made 303whp 230wtq on the 18g with an external wastegate.
GL with the build, and come back with more questions.

I spliced my blue box in only to pass emissions every year in GA. I had 550's tuned with my AEM the rest of the year.
It is best to have the 310's since the blue box was tuned for that amount with the wastegate not on a boost controller.
SPAM!!!!
I have a set of 310's from the kit if you need some. I only used them for a few weeks every year. $210 shipped will suffice.

ill pass on the deal.... ill just run 440 with the blue box for a while until i get a stand alone unit.... also another question.... is hondata capable for FI and NA tuning??? or are there different tuning advice for FI and NA separately??? cuz i think imma go na after boosting for about year..... thats why i dont even know if im goin to get standalone but if it can tune NA as will then ill def get it
Hondata, like the other free tuning softwares, controls all fuel and ignition. that being said you can run FI, N02, NA, big injectors, small injectors, big power, and small power. It doesn't matter since it has control over the fuel and ignition.
Don't be an idiot and run the 440's with the blue box. You not only will waste gas, but will run too rich and will slowly kill your engine over time due to ring wash and fouled plugs. Get the Hondata or uberdata or Crome or whatever ECU chipping kit you want and get it tuned by a professional. Sounds like you don't know too much (that's not being mean), so stick to someone who does. ie: your tuner

Ha, no you won't
Anyway, you can use the 440's, as long as you have the eManage and not the blue box. You'll need a support cable, ignition harness, emange software, a laptop and a wideband. Check the yahoo emanage group for most of those items. I have an LC1 for wideband.

Have it your way. With the 440's you'll be running in the 10.5-10.3 A/F ratio and that causes ring wash which will screw your engine. Please do some research so you don't have a thread titled "I'm an id-10-t for not listening to people with experience and knowledge and no my engine is fuxor'd...please help me"
Again...we're trying to help you now.

hey man i understand about the injectors size with the blue box i just recently picked up a greddy kit for 1200dollars got a super good deal but the guy i bought it from ran 550s with a chipped ecu but did not include them in the kit althouh i have a vafc and iam able to adjust the pulse width of my stock injectors so i was thinking maybe i might be able to turn the 440s down with the vafc and still run the blue box even though its suppose to run the 310s but i not sure if i need to run another fuel pump since this kit is based on a stock motor but hondata s300 seems like a better way to tune as far as fuel trim for each cylinder data logging ect if you have any suggestions about the fuel pump and maybe a oil catch can shoot them to me or anything about blue box with vafc would be appricated
