My friend forgot to close his window and a theif jacked his faceplate (but not the stereo/head unit) wtf? they also took other little things like cleared out his glove box and other little things here and there from his car... we thought .. ok whatever nothing really of value.. so he goes to see how much the faceplate would cost/replacement and its $239 wtf? thats crazy..


i guess its time for a new head unit.. Lolz...

 

anyone know any other place other than pacparts (pacific parts) to order face plates? if he can't find the face plate for a decent price he's going to get a new head unit..

its a pretty old deck... Sony CDX5290 so he doesnt want to spend that much on a replacement face.. for $239 he might as well apply that to a new deck.. but if you guys know a place he can get a replacement face for cheap that would be cool..

 

he should just get new deck.. theres decent decks out there for that much cash.. its gonna be kinda hard to find a face for an older deck...

hold on .... i might have that deck in my garage... the unit doesnt work, but im sure the face works... ill check if its the same when i get home....

yeah I've been telling him to just apply that money towards a new deck.. maybe he's too lazy to mess w/ the install again I dunnoz.. let me know what faceplate u have at home... maybe I'll MAKE him go look at new head units this weekend after I put in my master Cyl hehe..

 

I'm thinking they make the faceplates soo expensive so that when someone loses one they're more likely to buy a new unit. That and the fact that it would be useless to steal a $300 deck when the face is off (what would the point of detachabe faces be if the thieves could just buy a new one for $20). Tell him to go buy a new deck.....

 

yeah I kind of figured they kept the prices high on faceplates so that theives couldnt jack the unit w/o the face.. then buy the faceplate for cheap.. however as a registered/legit owner..they should offer some kind of discount or something on the faceplate since he has all the receipts and sent in the registration.. but then I guess its business and for them its better that the customer see the price.. and go out and buy a new head unit.. unfortunately for them (Sony)... I'm telling my friend to get something else..

 

go on ebay for new decks. Got a rockford fosgate for my teg about 3 months ago on ebay for $160 and it retails for $360

 

somebody stole the faceplate off my pioneer dehp9200r, they wanted to charge $450 to replace it.... outrageous so **** that, i bought a pioneer dvd setup :D and it's sweet.. and insurance paid for the entire dehp9200r, i still have the cd player tho... cant really sell it, nobody wants it...

 

damn that sux.. what do these losers do w/ the face plates? I guess they steal peoples decks and then need a faceplate or something? I mean if your going to steal the face plate which renders the head unit useless.. y not take the deck too? oh well at least they didn't cause a lot of damage to my frenz car/interior... damn $450... thats crazy..
