well my buddys got a 92 hatch with a ls swap in it that im workin on with him. him and some "freinds" were messin with it earlier when i wasnt there. they had the car runnin and for some reason one kid pulled a plug wire out of the engine while it was runnin and the engine shut off. so they called me up i went over and checked it out and its gettin gas and its gettin spark, but wont start up. we pulled the top timing cover off and the timing marks on the cam gears were about 6 teeth off. could this of jumped timing just out of nowere and jump that far???

 

6 teeths i think you making this up or inaccurate count of teeths. A "friend" may have unplugged the IACV plug and the car shuts off. Try it with a any honda or acura car
and unplug it IT WILL SHUT OFF.

 

no im serious there was a huge amount of teeth that it was off by, im not sure if it was 6 or not but it was right around there

 

Sounds like they were messing with it pretty badly. I'd beat his ***.

It could also be that they were revving the **** out of it and the belt wasn't tight enough, causing it to jump timing.

The only thing you can do is make sure your ignition and crank timing are correct. If that fails, check for CELs and spark / fuel.

Edit: you have fuel and spark. Re-time it and see if you have any CELs.

he did say they were revin the **** out of it. there all ricer kids and it pisses me off to even hear them talk sometimes, but i was just tryin to help the kid out. i asked him if he heard any noise when it shut off. his replay was "i dont kno the muffler was to loud when it shut off"

I guess he likes wasting his own money. Let him fix it himself if he wants to screw it up, he definitely skipped the timing.

well first of all i said in the bigining its a freinds car that im helping work on cause they dont kno **** about cars. second of all i wasnt there when they did whatever they did to the car, i just gatherd that they were revin the **** out of it, one kid pulled a plug wire out and the engine shut off. like i said they dont kno anything about cars so im sure there prolyl not tellin me everything. the timing marks are deff way off. im just tryin to figure out whats wrong with this kids car cause he was gonna give me $150 if i could get it started.

Just go and make sure it's timed correctly, that should fix the problem. Then take his $150 and pimp slap him for treating his vehicle so poorly.

allright thanks WIZCO youve kinda helped me out but thats the next step i was gonna take anyways. i just wanted to make sure anyone didnt think it was somethin else. oh and the kid that owns the car/is givin me $150 he was in a car accident and sued somone for like a million dollars or some **** so he dont really care about money at this point. and hes only like 18 or 19 years old!!!!
