first off ive only lived in cali for two years, but i have to smog again in about a month and i have some questions if you dont mind me asking. first off, this time they sent me "test only" not exactly sure how thats different from just smog check but anyways. On to my 88 ef dx hatch, just swapped from the b2 dx motor to a strong A6 si motor as far as i know everything is running well, replaced timing belt(honda) all fluids(honda), and have been messing with my fuel regulator and idle to get everything just right. Now, i do have an aftermarket exhuast 2 1/4 custom cat back, no resonator, all the way to an es tuning muffler. Will this effect the smog test?? if so, i do have the stock si catback should i swap them before testing? Im just trying to make sure i have everything i need to pass before i go and have this done. Any input is definately helpful, and or places that you HT guys go to for your tests or recommend a place, or recommended changes i can make. Cheers and Beers
You will probobly have to take it to a referee to get it smogged. They will reguire that everything off the other honda smog wise has to be on your honda. Including cat converter.Call DMV and get the nuber to the referee. They will check out the vehicle and let you know what you need to smog.

We do not care what exhaust you have. What we care about is the header and cat.
If you have the stock header/manifold and cat you are in there. If a header it has to have a C.A.R.B. number or you fail. Same with a CAI or SRI.
You do not have to go to a bar ref. That motor did come in the CRX's in 88 so...
No Ref. needed. It is a replacement engine.
Test only is a smog place that does NOT do repairs. The reason for the test only is so you get a good test. Do you feel good about going to a repair shop for the test?
Believe me there has been alot of complaints.
FPR is not needed for a stock motor I would put back on the OEM one and make sure your timing is set to spec.
Good luck!
