Default Good LOL- My Exhaust was too loud! -CHEAP FIX! 56K Warning PICS!

ok, i tried to post this in ephatch... i'm not authorized to post anything there yet?
i've been a member there for months, but never tried to post...
anyways, i have had trouble with the law and "Sound Level" of my exhaust... like some others here.

i bought it with a cf muffler installed already!

very nice sound, and looked great! i had many compliments... and a few complaints!
but it was also too loud for the kids, and i would get a headache if i had to drive more than 30 minutes!
so when the inevidible warning came (in a 45mph zone And i wasn't even speeding! -WEAK!-) i was ready to get a

"STOCK" muffler!

bye-bye nice sound!
after they cut it off, they called and said "$380 for a Honda muffler?" i said "No! try Aftermarket, as long as its quiet!"

they called back a few times, had 3 different ones ordered, 2 didn't fit right, the one that did fit, sounded the same as CF!

"LOUD!" ...damn...

it sat overnight, while they overnighted another "honda size" muffler...
he called the next night... "it came, it barely fits, But it Sounds quiet, You're Good to go!"

1/2 hour later, we pulled up and saw this...

i thought- "W... T.. F...!!!?"
...same with wifeypoo!
"WTF!"

oh well, i started it up... it sounded perfect- nice and silent!

then i rev'd it a few times... and it sounds MEAN! (not stocklike) at 4000rpm+
i told the wifey- "thats cool- so if i feel like racing, it sounds like i'm serious!"

then i got out and looked at it again...

luckily he only charged us $180.00 for everything!
-whew! at least its fixed!
i guess the old one was hanging and rubbing on something?

he said they fixed that too!
but the end of the new muffler had another bracket on it- for a different model-
so they cut it off, ...but it made it look like complete ****! not very proffesional!
i asked about an end cap? "$26 for this chrome one, i'll only charge you $20 for install!"
i said "not my style, i'll find one online-" and i left...
(we found a thick one at parts store the next day for $7)

i went and purchased (+1600'f ) Engine Block Paint- Black!
-Yes, it says "Safe for exhausts and manifolds!"-

looked better, but not ok yet... -he said they had to cut about an inch out of the bumper to get it to fit right.... grrr...
(yes, i've been looking at new bumpers!)
i called him back- they welded our tip on for $20 cash and i was off like a homecoming dress!

so for a little over $200- i went from this-

to this-

to this-

does it -stick out?
i have a 3"chrome tip- it looks like it stickes out a little,

but you can't see it from the other side

...unless you creep around the back corner a little ---//\\

i'm not too happy about it, but i think it was an overall improvement from what i had-
AND DIRT CHEAP!

performance hasn't changed at all- since it has no Headers!
...hmmm???

Chime in with your thoughts and comments- or laughs!!!

LOL...

thanks for the replies.
1. i didn't do the work- i'm not good with torches around gas tanks!
2. i did get a new tip- check pics and story again!
3. i paid $227 for everything... all the work- welding, and fixing it as they went...
4. i am looking into a new rear bumper-
Something that can hide that mess, and just let the chrome tip stick out!

maybe not that exact one- i dont exactly like that style.

so now i am just searching for the perfect bumper!
Thanks

what size piping did they put on there... should be at most around 2.5 inch...

227 is way to much for that(pipes weld cut muffler ect)

if ur gonna get a new bumper to hide it.. just get a new exhaust... u just spent
227
+new bumper
+paint
+labor
u just spent 700-800 dollars... with about 200-400 u could have just bought a nice exhost... maybe a rsr xmag if they make it for ur car, or a greddy sp2.... there both nice and quiet...

im not bashing... im just tryin to spair u the kick in the pants like i did with my sentra... i got a cut, weld muffler done to my car... it looks like the same **** muffler they put on my car too...done for 80 bucks..

When I got pulled over for my exhaust being too loud, I went to a shop that I never went to before and they made me an axle back (with and Accord muffler I brought in) for $30. Now I can be loud or silent whenever I want.

***Actually, when I pulled out of my buddy's parking garage (underground) my resonator welds broke, the pipe fell and the sound absorbing material all blew out. I bought a welder for $150 (brand new Chicago Electric MIG with 2 yr warranty) and welded the resonator back on w/o the absorber. It's ricer loud and I can't stand it. The resonator is going to cost me $63 for my good sound back. I'm going to buy 2 to eliminate rasp.

Anyways, you got jacked. Hey I'll trade you my Euro side marker lights for your 4 stock lights. They go with your car better than mine. This is what they look like:

They are reflective because they have a mirrored finish everywhere (euro style or whatever). I just want some stockers. I'll trade you straight up. You ship yours. I'll ship mine. Pm me with your address if you want to. I could send them out next thursday.

sorry, no can do! even if i did get those lights, i would have to keep the stock ones.
i just bought 1 OEM for the front, and it cost me $60!
...having to find stock parts for this thing is unbeliveable hard for me and my wallet!
i kept my original rear signals in storage, that carbon fiber muffler, along with a few other parts from it.

but thanks for the offer!

Thanks for the nicest comment i've ever recieved on this forum!
i did work hard on getting this all posted for everyones amusement...
i thought it was a nightmare at first, but its all good now!

phthalo,

if i were to lower it anymore, i wouldn't be able to get it into our underground garage-
it just misses, or sometimes scrapes, that pipe now! -i keep checking for bends...

but its a light scrape, and there's just a few scratches on it that's all!
if i went lower i would bottom out , that would bend it up for sure!

as for its appearance...

i was in love with it the day i laid eyes on it!
i had searched for a few years, and the others seemed so...
plain...
(Not my style!)
i'm not one to throw FLAMING TRIBAL decals on its side or anything, but i like the small red stripe!

Some guy, even thinks THIS Looks Good!

...
...

.......
..........
...............

.........................

WTF?

but hey...
to each his own.
