97 Accord LX - Running Rough
The car has been maintained pretty well but it seems to get rougher than usual sometimes.
About 1.5 months ago the oil was changed and I used 10w30 for the first time, I'm not sure if this is a factor at all. I think on the next oil change I'll go back to 5W30.
What is the best brand name that you guys recommend for oil?
When the timing belt was done a few months ago Honda said the valves need to be adjusted but it is not a mechanical problem, just an annoyance that makes the car sound louder at times.
The roughness seems to be gone sometimes, especially on warmer days, but sometimes even on warm days when the car is warmed up, it runs kind of rough.
I changed the spark plugs a few days ago and each plug had some oil on it. Not a whole lot, maybe a few drops at best.
Should I be worried and if this is a problem what is it and how long before it gets worse?
Thanks for your advice as always guys

Get a valve adjustment done. If you're getting oil on your spark plugs, you should replace the valve cover gasket and spark plug grommets.

Im with twixle. Now you need plug wires too. The oil has saturated the boots.

Hey guys sorry to revive an old post but unfortunately I haven't found a solution to the car woes yet.
So far I've ruled out a spark plug problem or the wires.
The plugs have been changed and when the car is running we've unplugged the wires and the car ran rougher reach time which means the wires and spark are fine.
I've run two different products into the gas tank to clean the injectors and the entire fuel system. I did Pennzoil the first time and a week ago Redline SI-1. I can't say it really helped or made much improvement so I'm going to assume the fuel system was fine and probably not clogged.
What problems can the valves cause? Could it be the cause of the rough/shaking/loud running or is something else wrong?
I told Honda after they changed the timing belt a number of months ago that the car didn't sound the same after the belt was done and they just said it is the valves, but could they have screwed something up?
I also notice sometimes when the car is warming up that there is almost a knock/ping or a loose sounding belt.
The check engine light is not on.
Any informed suggestions would be appreciated.
I will have the valves adjusted but I don't want to do it until I know what the source of this rough /shaking/loudness is about.
Thanks guys

Does anyone have experience with "Wynn's Engine Tune-Up"
* Helps quiet noisy hydraulic valves and frees sticking oil rings
* Loosens sticking oil rings and valves
* 325mL
I'm thinking of putting it in for a few days before the next oil change.
