Default in need of serious differential help!

you may remember me from a couple months ago, i posted up my differential that was completely cracked from front to back. Well im here again today with another busted up differential. this time it wasnt as serious, i just chewed up one of the gears. I am not sure what the gear is called but it is the smaller one. anyways i need to find a better solution, i cant afford to be tearing this up. i know for a fact that i do not want to put another honda pieace of **** rear end in my car so i was wondering if anyone sells after market gears or if i can somehow fabricate another differential to ft in the car. any help would be extremely appreciated. Thanks!

here is what the gear looks like

what is done to your car that you keep chewing up the OEM rear end? or do you just drive like an idiot?!?

inline pro makes a kit.....its expensive, but allows you to run a nissan r200 rear end.....that should be able to handle some abuse

the car is pretty much stock, just rims and col air intake. i dont think that i drive like a tool, i drove my e36 a lot harder than i have ever driven this car and it never had a problem like this, i could honestly say that i baby this car compared to any other car i have owned. for those of you who are boostin, what did you decide to go with? im only 18 and sturgglin to pay the bills right now with college and everything. what do you think would be the cheapest but best solution? and dont say "sell the car" i hear that enough from my parents

it may have been a product of your rear diff being used. mine worries me, and i only have 57k on the car. if you bought it from someone who drove it hard, or was an autoxer, it could have been near the end of its life.

still no reason for it to go out like that unless after many many high rev clutch drops

i heard some where the new 08 s2k have stronger rear drum.
also, is it possible your diff be keeps cracking due to heavy rim? it kind of makes sense because you're spinning your poller very fast, but your axle doesn't want to move because of the weight on the wheel....

How far did you go in inspecting the used diff? When you say "i tore it apart and it all checked out good"...have you setup any differentials before and do you know what to look for other than just seeing what's inside?

I broke mine not too long ago as well. I was doing nothing unusual. Just winding out 1st gear to redline, a little bit of second, and then cruise in 6th....that's when I heard what sounded like a hole in my exhaust. Ended up being a fuked up differential.

I don't chirp the tires when I shift into second, nor when I launch. It just broke. Just like that.

I don't care what anybody says about people driving like idiots, doing this or doing that. Ultimately the differential is too weak. I have never heard of anything like this in any other car. Even my open-differential B16 I launched from redline literally hundreds of times. No problems.

launching a FWD and a RWD are two way different things... the diff isnt that weak, it really depends on how you drive...

i have a question for you lsos, and im not tryin to be a dick but did u buy the car new?
if not the guy before you could have beat the **** out of it and now u have his headache...

exactly, you can never argue "the diff just went for no reason" unless that diff was under your ownership the whole time and you know for sure.

regardless who owned the car before us, the differential still sucks ***. It should not break no matter who is driving. for honda right now.

...so you're saying that the diff should not break even if someone had a 700hp motor attatched to it and was doing launches on slicks?

I'm not saying that's a realistic situation, but you cant say "the diff shouldn't break no matter who was driving it".

The S2000 diff is weak. But the car was never meant for drag racing nor was it advertised to be good in that area. If you launch it hard, it's going to break. So just dont launch it hard. Not really a big deal.

Im not saying you abused your 2nd diff. But what were you doing when it broke? I'm just curious.

like what was said a fwd is diff from a rwd WAYYYY DIFF... yes the rear end could be stronger but its strong enough to hold up.....

i never babied my S2K as i drove it as i believe it should and had over 100K on the car without a singal problem....

i thing 90%+ of the tranny/diff problems comes from poor driving habits or not really knowing how to properly drive a standard car.....

there are many things that can play a huge factor in what went wrong, but thats beside the point...

get a good diff... get it inspected by someone who knows what they are doing... use good fluids....
