can you make a kandy coat with miking a drop of color in your clear
like the title says...
i am looking to smoke out some tail lights on a friends black jeep liberty. he really doesn't want to buy paint just for this and i have plenty of the other chemicals needed if this works. anyone experimented with this. i have some random headlights and taillights sitting around that i can test on, but with the price of chemicals i would hate to wast anything on blotched attempts. if it helps i use PPG DCU2021 urethane clear and the paint is a PPG DBC2700.
any input would be helpful.

yes you can smoke lights this way i do it all the time just take the light sfuff it down witha gray scuff pad or 1200 gritt put some black base in the clear and spray just remeber the more coats you apply the darker they will be it ia recomended to do some test panels first so you know how much black to put in and this is not kandy, you can do this on cars also only if they are a single color to give it depth like black white red ect not on metalics or pearls

Why not just overreduce your base coat.....Take 99k(dupont) or jet balck from anybody instead of 1 to 1 or 2 to 1 make it 1 to 100 or 200.Make it like water....That way when your done you can just put a couple of coats of clear on and call it a day

thanks for the response. i was at the store i buy my paint supplies from last night and the owner told me the same thing. he also said that he has had a lot of guys ask about where to get this done and he had nowhere to send them. he said if i can perfect this, he can send me some business. i am laying paint and clear this evening on a bike i am painting, i am going to mix a little extra clear to try this on some samples.
