Valve cover gasket weeping
Well about 30,000 miles ago the Previous owner had a shop replace the valve cover gasket on the '99 EX sedan 4 cyl. I bought. Well it is weeping oil again. The bolts that tighten it down areas tight as can be. Just the front weeps not the rear?? Should I try lossening the rear and tightning the front or just replace it again?
like stated above, just throw a new gasket on it. the its not hard to do the job, prob take about 20 minutes. make sure to use some RTV silicone sealant. as far as using a OEM honda, even though i did myself, i dont think theres a big difference betweent hat then what you can get at a local aprts store, its just a rubber gasket, and theres not that much pressure in the valve cover.
Get the full kit, gasket, rubber washers under the bolt heads and spark plug seals, keep your spark plug well seals for a friend later if they are still flexable, they should be.
Do not over torque putting it back together, the 10mm studs / bolts break easily. I like to go around the whole thing like three times snugging it down a little more each time. Some guys add some RTV to the four sharp corners (DOHC) at the far ends of each cam hump.

Duane thanks for the information. Does this information also go for a 1993 Accord EX? I just bought a '93 EX with 128,500 miles. It is in pressty good condition. The engine was detailed though today I noticed the front corners of the VC was weeping. The VC bolts were tight.
ps - I was stationed at Tachikawa in 1970-71. Left there and went to Yokota for the remainder. I loved Tachikawa, the surrounding area and day trips to Tokyo. I bet it is different now. I also spent time (14 months) in Northern Okinawa and Kagoshima. Absolutely beautiful.

yes... just purchase the gasket kit from the dealer and it will come with everything. Do not over tighten the nuts/bolts holding the valve cover as they can snap rather easy. IIRC 7 lb/ft is the torque spec.
