need help d16y7 idling wierd
so i picked up a d16y7 from a homie cuz im bout to make a big move in nov from diego to dallas and my current y7 is too old.his is in pretty top notch condition compared to mines so he hooked it up.i swapped it 5 hours, took out my ac cuz it just pissed me off then bolted my y8 auto manifold on it.plain and simple swap everything went to the old connections.so then i thought i was ready to roll out the shop and go on with my day but fvck my car is idling really wierd as soon as i turned it on.i turn it on then it went to 3k.let it run for a couple minutes then it starts to rev from 1k to 2k.it bounces off 1k then back to 2k then repeats itself the whoooleee time.took it for a drive anddd the sammeeee thing!what the hell is going on?did i plug something wrong?it bounces off 1k then back to 2k then over and over and over same ****.does anyone have any ideas onto what the hell is going on with my car?maybe wrong plugs?maybe bad iacv?when i had the y8 intake manifold on my old y7 it was fine.please help im driving to vegas on wednesday for a week and this is my dd
My guess would be that you now have a vacuum leak.
I don't know if this helps, but the MAP and TPS sensors are the exact same plug. If you have them mixed up, your car will run like ****. You might want to switch them first just to make sure they're not in the wrong spots. If no dice, just switch them back.
As far as vac. leaks go... -
Make sure the head surface is cleaned, and the intake manifold surface is cleaned as well. Get your hands on a new gasket if you have time. Personally, I spread motor oil on both mating surfaces to help promote a better seal. Make sure that all the bolts are torque'd to spec. Double check ALL vacuum hoses. If you haven't already plugged the air injection holes, you will need to do that. Depending on the y8 year, there is a nipple on the top of the manifold flange in the middle that can be plugged. Don't forget your PCV nipple, your break booster nipple, cruise control is the tiny one on the back, FPR, and also the other BIG nipple on the front of the manifold right below PCV (forgot what its called...). Make sure you also have the right throttle body gasket (y7) or you could have idling issues, and also make sure the bolts are tq'd to spec, and also have a good clean sealing surface. Make sure to use hose clamps on all air hoses as well. If the idle is still shitty after you go over all the air connections, try cleaning the IACV -- There are many other threads on that topic.
Worst case scenario - spray carb cleaner over the intake manifold/throttle body. when the idle surges, you've gotten close to your leak (if that IS the problem...) Just use deductive reason to locate your leak, and properly address it.
Good luck, hope this helps.
