Default quick release+ lock= anti theft safety?

I was just wondering on how effective a quick release steering wheel and lock will be agaisnt thieves? Ive been loocking at getting the FET quick release plus the RAP Fix lock cap of inlinefour.com. Will thieves still be able to steal my car or will it just make it harder? Also how legal is it to remove the factory airbag steering wheel? thanks in advance

Ce mai face!

It's somewhat effective, meaning that its more of a theft "deterrent" than an actual anti-theft device. I know there was a guy at my school last year who got his car jacked when he took his steering wheel with him. Thieves brought their own wheel and ECU, or just towed the ******. So to answer your question, yes, it will be harder to steal, and yes, they can still steal it.

since I doubt few know romania's laws on airbags... you'll have to look that one up yourself. quick release with a lock has to be more security than stock. security is best in layers.

I have one, my car was still stolen. they somehow happened to get it about 5 miles away before ditching/dropping it in an apartment parking lot. They never did get it off though, and lord knows they tried. (rapfix)

I've seen posts where people complained that their car still got stolen.

You can throw your hands in the air and let yourself get victimized like some people in this thread are resigned to, or you could read the site in my signature.

Even though they could still steal a car i say make it the hardest car to steal they can. Make it that they HAVE to use a tow to take your car. Thats my principle on cars being stolen. If it wasnt taken with a tow truck it wasnt secured enough.

I agree. If you fear it getting towed park out of gear with the wheels turned all the way left or right. When they pull the car it'll turn sharply. Just one more little thing to do.

That might be true, BUT if you have the right security than the conditions would have to be perfect for the thief to steal it which in the real world that doesnt happen too often. As for tow trucks im sorry cant help you there. Get a garage.

They're right, if they want your car, they'll get it, one way or another. I had a pretty thorough alarm system setup on my car and it got ganked from me yesterday

expletive man that sucks, good luck with it. Socal is pretty bad tho, but i think thefts in the NW are rising. I already have an alarm on the car, but its not the shittiest or the top of the line, im just looking for ways to improve security. Any other ways to improve security? Whats low jack about and how mcuh does it cost?

the more i think about it, trying to see it from the POV of the thief the more i think they would be looking for a car with "goodies" in it like a quick release wheel and a nice sterio deck or slick wheels. basicly as much of a stock look as you can handle is good for detering theft.

a friend of mine had a "bad streak" in high school, he broke into cars and stole radios because they had the removable face off... he was a spiteful guy then. but you get the point.

The front tires will roll and the front end will move. Otherwise it'll just skid, completely fouling the attempt.

i say install a tow hook
and get the biggest chain you can
i chain my car to the tree behind my house, and occasionally i'll chain it to the median if i'm in traffic.
