bushings
my car is sqeeking more and more for a month now.. I've done my search and haven't found any good information on ap2 bushings. which part normally gives way and what would you recommend as a replacement part. so far i found spoon and mugen (which one would you recommend) and are there any other alternatives.

when, where, what is it exactly you are hearing?
miles?
theres no way your bushings are shot unless they were soaked/sprayed a ton with carb cleaner or something

noise is coming from the front top. seems like top tower bushings...but i just want to make sure what else typically gives way. I have 30k miles on it and it sqeeks under normal driving conditions.

have it diagnosed before you throw parts at it.
Take it to a suspension/alignment shop.
Describe your problem in a little more detail if you want us to try to help you. It's kinda vague right now.

thanks for the quick response guys..i will go into detail with this during the weekend. i just wanted more of an opinon going into it as reference. the typical bushing that gives way when your suspension starts to squeek. Also since we are on this topic. I know that the OE bushings are really good and typically do not give way prematurally, but in my case..(just in case it is bad) what other alternatives, recommendations, would you shoot out. I drive this daily, and time to time do the occasional track days. Not on a professional level. but i want it to perform and get the most bang for the bucks. I'm running on a set of Function/forms. First set and have not yet disappointed me. I might have over done it with the pre-load therefor resulting in the squeek.
any suggestions, feed back, personal setup.
thanks in advance.

theerress ya problem. lol. no seriously, though. Did you clock the bushings when you lowered the car? You really shouldnt have to preload the springs. Leave the spring unloaded (but not loose) and just adjust the bottom sleeve. I duno if you have that option, but it's the best way to lower the car.
Am I understanding correctly? Or did you mean preload/clock the bushings when you said "i preloaded them too much"?
Also, the coilovers themselves could be squeaking. Maybe a spring rubbing on something? A loose brake line rubbing on something? The polyurethane bushings that come in some suspension setups squeak. Polyurethane squeaks like a MOTHA if you dont lube it properly.
Honda bushings are very good, espeically on the S2000. They're stern. Stern but fair. They usually dont tear very quickly even if you dont clock them when you lower the car or take the suspension apart. The stock S2000 bushings seem to have a very good level of deflection. It's not annoying like hard rubber or polyurethane, but it's not slushy either.
I seriously doubt there's anything wrong with your stock bushings. I would replace them with OEM or similar (mugen, spoon) if you were to replace them. Try to stay away from polyurethane unless you're building a race car...and heim joints are not available.
