Default In car computer

Ive seen a couple of guys here got a monitor with a windows XP set up instead of the regular CD player. Can i get some advice on how to go about that?

i had a laptop under my seat powered by an inverter to charge the battery, it worked great for a year and a half until my screen went out, i wasn't using it for much except mp3's so i just got a headunit that plays mp3's instead...plus i didn't like the attention i got at night when people would drive next to me and see the screen.
