Engine motor swap '01 Prelude SH to '99 Prelude base
Need advise. I found a used motor for my 99 prelude base. it's a 01 prelude sh and i was wondering if any major modification or mounting adjustment is invovled. also, i currently have a supercharger by jackson installed that smoked my engine. Should i keep it or take it out during the swap?
What exactly is wrong with your engine?
Youre better off finding a Base US H22 or a JDM H22. You will need to make some changes for the SH motor and I don't think your trans will work without changes.

pm PirateMcfred for an adapter plate ($75) so that you can use your existing transmission and axles. Other than that it's a straightforward swap. You shouldn't have any issues with your supercharger as long as you get it properly tuned.

It really comes down to how cheap that SH motor can be had for...

Doesn't it always? If this is a good deal for him, the fact that it's out of an SH shouldn't stop him since he's only a $75 adapter plate away from running it in his car without any problems.

Any long term testing on this part?
Is the adaptor plate to use a Non SH trans on an SH block or to just get rid of ATTS on an SH block/trans combo? As you know, I don't know much about anything OBD2 or ATTS related.

It's the same thing as an H2B adapter, a very simple concept. It enables the user to use a non-M2U4 trans. There are a few people using the product, and we would've heard if there were any issues. Since this is Pirate's product, I have the utmost confidence it.

thanks for the overwhelming responses. first of all, here is the reason why i need it replaced. i noticed white smoke coming out from the breather. i get it checked at several places and the most common answer i got was that air is leaking thru the piston (due to supercharger and lack of proper tunin) and motor needs to be replaced right away or else.........."fire in the hole!". Secondly i found this motor locally (01' SH) with 22K asking for $12K. That's the best deal i've got so far but i was told that the mounting could be different between the two model. Well guys thanks and keep me posted if you have any crazy ideas,
That's not a very good deal. Call and ask http://www.hmotorsonline.com how much it'd be just for a longblock without the transmission.
my search came to a dead end. hey vig, i called those guy from ur link and they told me it's a major swap. trans is not compatible, att (don't know what the hell that means) unit is different, oil filter is located elsewhere and so one...... they told me to stick with a h22 motor

What not just get a nice JDM H22 for that price?!
The S/C would love the 10.6:1cr.
do you have to take emissions where you live?

No. Its something I have explored many many times.
You have to remeber you can still sell your old engine. I average about $500 for DEAD H22's on my last 2 excursions.
I don't know what H motors does on shipping but I think I can get an H22 to your door a little cheaper. Too add, I have tons of confidence in them because of the level of abuse they have seen in my cars.
