Default EX aftermarket header back exhaust on a DX

I've searched and found nothing that answered my question, however, I did NOT read every post so don't flame me...

I decided to install an exhaust I had bought from a CC member on my own... He has a hatch and said what he bought did not fit (too long) he said it was specifically for a coupe.. it was a good deal.. I have read in many posts on here as well as CCt.. that the Coupe and Sedan exhausts are interchangeable.. I also bought a Heddman Chikara header off of ebay for no money compared to their retail value... Well I was able to remove the stock DX exhaust off my 98 4 door DX and the following day i tackled installation of the aftermarket system. I tried it two ways... header first then bolt everything up and mate it to header which did not work.... then removed header and installed everything also did not work.. system fell off the hangers... it appears that the exhaust is approx. 3 inches too short ... The exhaust system i bought off the CC member included a "hi-flow" cat or what others might call a 'resonator' (definitly not a staright pipe.) Now, my question is because my header was part of my manifold is there a length problem I may have overlooked? My only other option is to TRADE someone my header (heddman) and "hi-flow CAT (resonator w/ o2 bung)" for a OEM/stock EX header/cat. Local trade is preferred for those interested (Connecticut). OR maybe someone locally can come out and take a look? lol

I'm not going to bother reading that long paragraph, particularly because of the lack of punctuation and coherent English.

Rewrite, or cliffs. You choose

Not for nothing but I didn't think we were being graded for puncation on a forum... So why you chose to reply with nothing useful in a 'Tech' post is beyond me...
Thanks for nothing!

Thanks for clogging this forum with some more bullshit questions that have been covered 1,000,000 times, but your lazy noob *** doesn't bother reading through all the search results before posting a new thread. Your answers have already been discussed. You're just a lazy ***. Also, how can I help you if I can't ******* read what you're asking?

From what I understand, you're trying to mate two different exhaust systems together? Keep your headers on the head, and work your way backwards. If it doesn't fit, take your car to an exhaust shop and have them cut/add/fit, or do whatever they need to to get your ish good to go, unless you have a chop saw and welder then do it your self.

You are severely graded on punctuation @ honda-tech... If its not easy to read, you will get no help at all. Guaranteed.
Punctuation, spelling, grammar, and SPACING are key.
We also dont want a life story, just the facts...

I had to read your **** 3 times to get any idea of what the hell you were saying, trying to pull out important crap....and I still dont think I get it.
I dont care enough to read it a 4th time....

The exhaust system of the y7 is different from that of the y8. This is beside the fact that the hatch setup is different from that of a coupe....or sedan.
Yes, the header = cat, on the y7, will make a difference in length, as well as the fact that the y7 B-pipe and 'axle-back' being different lengths as well.

You can always take it to a shop and have the extra 3" or so added to the b-pipe.

Oh, and use a cat...not that stupid resonator you got free.

Granted I maye have typed too much in an effort to provide as much info as possible. So, that I wasn't asked a dumb question. My basic question is, is a oem/stock EX cat longer that my "hi-flow" resonator like cat? I don't have an EX header so I am unable to measure it. Can someone provide dimensions if possible? I don't want to impose on anyone's time replying rudely to posts. I know how important it is to some users to "Post *****" for cred.

oem cat is ~17"
(<u>+</u>1")
The y8 header and the y7 header should end at about the same distance, however. Your problem is your B pipe

Default Accurate Brakes and Muffler

I have a 97 hatch and I'm interested to know more about how to fit in an EX header onto an aftermarket catback but I'll be damned if I'm gonna search through a forum like this that is incredibly over-cluttered with thousands of posts that are meaningless, juvenile, hateful, rude, or just plain wrong. It's not that I'm lazy either, I have a full time job, house, wife, 2 kids, coach softball & hockey, shoot pool, and play hockey.

I'm not sure how far from New Haven you are but I recommend a privately owned brake and muffler shop on State Street New Haven. The owner used to be my neighbor. He stands behind his work, is reasonably priced, and welds up custom exhausts all the time. Accurate Brake and Muffler.

I share your sentiment regarding reading through all the posts for an answer and I also have the same responsibilities minus the coaching & hockey... BTW where in CT are you located?
