Default Reusing Blox retainers

I'm Currently rebuilding my race motor, when disassembling i discovered that my blox retainers have chips in them from something around the outside.

will it affect the motor in any way by having chipped retainers.

Are they wearing away or just random chips? What if they keep 'chipping' more? Are you going to feel comforable doing a fresh rebuild and leaving one problem area to fix later anyway? I say replace them if there is any question in your mind that they are in good shape to put back in. Plus, it's a race motor...

Definitly junk them, if you read about titainum retainers one obvious advantage
is wieght savings, but the real advantage is strenght chips can cause cracks and cracks can cause valves falling into the cylinder.
I say buy new retainers from reputable companies like SKUNK2 or toda.
My two cents.

If you just repeat this question over and over in your head and still REALLY dont know the answer to it, you should just give up working on engines all together.

The chipping is a rocker arm interferance problem and will occur again with new retainers if not remedied.

They need to have material removed in certain spots. If you dont want to buy an air grinder, a compressor, some carbide cutters, some abrasive rolls and a mandrel to hold them, send them to someone who knows what they are doing.

I second that. Blox and skunk2 are made in the same factory with different branding.

I know Dave from Blox and Dave from S2, and believe me they do not make there retainers in the same factory. Call both companies and ask.
