Default need advise

I'm looking to run stage 2 cams in my USDM GSR motor within these few days and i need to know if upgrading to a 2-layer gasket is a good idea to raise the compression up higher for the cams to work better.

MODS
-skunk2 I/M
-68MM skunk2 throttle body
-3" AEM ITR CAI
-DC 4-2-1 header (looking to upgrade to 4-1 w/ 2.5" collector)
-test pipe
-buddyclub spec 2 exhaust
future mods
-stage 2 cams (skunk2/brian crower)
-dual valve springs/retainers (skunk2/brian crower)
-2 layer head gasket (no idea which brand)
-fuel pump
-Hondata s200 tuned on dyno....duh.

ORRRRRRR should i just stick to stage 1's.

the thing that keeps me worried is if i have to run 2 layer head gasket i don't want to send the head over to machine shop to have it decked for a few days because i need my car running on the street ASAP can't have it sitting around.. (school/work purpose)

If you want more CR without rebuilding you bottom end, use a 2 layer HG and flat faced valves like supertech's or omni's. That should get you to around
10.4-10.5:1 CR. You can also get a bit more CR through cam gear tuning, just clay your motor at the most aggressive cam gear settings you suspect your be using to make sure you got enought V2P clearance . Also, i don't think you will be needing a higher flow fuel pump, if anything just 310cc injectors, if that.

aren't the skunk2 stage 2 cams slightly bigger then the skunk2 pro 1's?

Skunk2 Stage 1 cams are good for your setup... Dont waste time on the headgasket unless you really need to pull off the head...

The are great for low and mid range gains, not so much top end and peak number gains, like what most people are concerned with.

What don't you like about the BC3, let me guess, peak gains weren't as great as other cams?

yeah i been doing re-search can't really find any dyno graphs of the BC3's except for one thread some guy made 176whp.. and i think it can do better then that with a better tune at least 180whp...although the bc3's are like stage 1's.

bc3's are a great daily driver cam. ur gonna make a nice gain in midrange and low end but u will also make a lil peak hp. but the bulk of ur power band is gonna be between 2500-6500 maybe even 7000 but after that the gain isnt going to be all the great. i run bc3's in my itr motor and i love um. pro1's are a lil to serious for ur setup being that the primary lobes are larger ur going to have a somewhat of a lopey idle. i say bc3's or skunk 2 tuner series stage 2.

i dont like them because i have no use for power at 2K i woud rather have it in the upper rpm range where it can be useful.

yeah, i figured you'd say that, i wouldn't use them on a dedicated drag car either, i got blox type b's for that, but for my d.d. the bc3 are great. Way better than stock ITR cams and not bad for d.d. My blox type b's idle a little rough, and cops just love popping ricers around here if they even hear an aftermarket exhaust.
