I'm trying to make a sphere chair from the 60's like in Men in Black

I'm just wondering the basic questions and more specifically how to make a mold, how to make the fiberglass strong and smooth

 

Buy a big *** balloon online....spray the outside with expanding foam, shape it, cover it in thick fiberglass matting, remove the balloon, coat the inside, etc. Be sure to incorporate a base plate of some sort to attach hardware to so you can attach a base.

That'd be my guess.

 

another idea might be an acrylic sphere. I saw them online when I was looking for a "dome" for a stupid project.
