Default B18C SWAP ISSUES: MOUNTING REAR BRACKET MOUNT (PICS)

EDIT: Since some think this post it too detailed, I'm just looking for the OEM dimensions of a bolt. Solution found, thanks IT GUY for the link. /thread

I'm doing a JDM B18C swap in a 91 CRX SI. Transmission is a hydraulic Y80 w/ LSD. I got the motor from HMO and ordered the rear mount bracket as well. As far as I know, it's either a 90-93 DA bracket, or the EFRB product from HASport: http://hasport.com/shop/produc...d=110 . (pics below of mount)

There are three bolts that are used to secure the rear bracket mount to the transmission rear. One up top, and two at the bottom. For easier identification purposes, I labeled them holes A, B, and C:

These are the bolts that I got from HMO, labeled accordingly to where they bolt up too:

Now the issue:
-Bolt A fits, dimensions: 12 x 1.25 x 65
-Bolt B fits, dimensions: 14 x 1.50 x 60
-Bolt C does not fit, dimensions: 14 x 1.50 x 60 (same as B)

Pay close attention here, get's confusing, kind of hard to explain.

Here is a picture of the bottom of the bracket mounted temporarily using the top bolt:

The yellow line symbolizes where the corner/flat end of the transmission is. The blue line symbolizes where the head of the bolt would stop. As you can see, bolt C should be completely flush. Refer to this picture:

Here are pictures of the bracket off, and bolt's B and C screwed all the way in until the inside thread stops (can't go any further):

See the dilemma? Bolt C is too long, it should be almost flush with the tranny. Conclusions are, HMO mailed me the wrong bolt (bolt C) OR I have the wrong bracket. (I think it's the bolt, however I've never seen another DA rear bracket mount). Solutions, get a replacement for Bolt C that is shorter but still 14 x 1.50.

Does anyone have the correct bolt sizes for bolt C? What are the dimensions for that specific bolt? 14 x 1.50 x ??

Detailed, I know probably a little more than it should be, but whatever.

TIA

EDIT: Since some think this post it too detailed, I'm just looking for the OEM dimensions of a bolt. Solution found, thanks IT GUY for the link. /thread

Did you seriously make this thread and took ALL these pictures just to explain that the bolt is too long?

HOLY ****!!!! GET A SHORTER BOLT!!! end of story and your "dilemma"</TD></TR></TABLE>

Yes, thats why you keep buckets of old bolts around. I really am in awe someone made a thread about this, and to top it off took all those detailed pics.

edit: admin87 gets my vote for 07 member of the year.

Give the guy a break. At least he has thought out his question and taken time to detail his problem. People seem to forget that this board is a tool and we are all here to support each other.

Sure did. Most responses people ask for more information about the issue, so I thouight I would provide a detailed post.

I guess I'll simplify for the people who think it was too much. Anyone off hand know what size bolt C is "suppose" to be. HMO is closed for the day, and I'm trying to get this thing done today.

do you know? I guess I can wait till tomorrow, call HMO, but I'm trying to get this motor in today. Maybe yoiu have one in your "draw of bolts" at the farm? Could I stop by and check it out? Already went to True Value, Lowes but they have nothing that's short enough.

Are you seriously kidding? TRY A SMALLER BOLT !!!! what's so hard about that WHY do you need SPECIFIC dimensions...</TD></TR></TABLE>

I just want to get it to spec. If it's too small, or too long, their might be some motor movement in the engine bay, or uneven power displacement possibly? I'm a perfectionist, sorry.

Go to a hardware store. Get a bolt shorter, with the same threads, in grade 8 or better, and install. It isn't that hard man. For that matter you could get away with just the top 2 bolts for awhile. You are making a mountain from a mole hill.

I guess that's what I'll do. Just get a shorter bolt, and throw some washers in there to make it flush. Thanks.

The bolts don't fit cause you have a 90-93 bracket & they sent you the bolts for the Hasport Rear engine bracket.... Look at Hasports bracket it is diffrent than the Da one.

50827-SK7-020 BRACKET, RR. ENGINE MOUNTING 1 1992 INTEGRA 55.65 44.52

^^still don't know why hasport's is $90 when you can get one from acura for half as much

Here's a pic with prices and part numbers for the bolts you need for your DA bracket.. maybe it'll help

You know I bet you could just leave that bolt out of there completely and the engine probably wouldn't move at all.

I wouldn't replace the bolt i'd just put some washers in it and keep going

If this stumped you then it's going to be a long swap. I'm surprised the engine even made it in the car.

I just want to do it the right way. Like I said, I'm a perfectionist. It's my first swap, and just want to make sure everything is the way is supposed to be.

Hey gursh d, i'll give you a complement for a change. Its nice to see someone who took their time to post a question (yes simple) rather than a "My car doesn't run, FIX IT for me" post. SO yeah, good luck with the swap, you won't be one of those guys who takes their snapped/missing bolt warrior to the track and breaks and has everyone waiting till they get towed/pushed off the track.

I had the same problem with my gsr swap. I just got a shorter bolt, like other people have said and everything is fine.

eh, but there your bolts, not mine, so I figured I'd ask. I'm taking this as a yes.

Well I for one would rather see this board full of questions with pictures, and looking for serious answers rather than half of the BS that litters H-T nowadays. Hope everything turns out well for your swap! I'll keep an eye out for the finished product

Admin87...you sir are an asshat. Even if a question is overblown, being a total drama queen about someone asking a question doesn't help anyone on the board. It only adds to the stereotype that if you ask a question on HT you're going to get blasted by haters that have little to no experience, but bust on people to make there work day more exciting. You are legally an adult...try to act like it.

I guess a post can be "too" detailed to the point where it pisses people off. Oh well, it just goes to show what type of person they are when they throw a temper tantrum about it on an internet forum. I figured out though that admin87 is my cousin who created the acct just to flame me. He's jealous that my dad has split the costs with me for the swap, when he had to buy everything on his own for his swap.

I ended up getting a shorter bolt with the same thread pitch, and it worked fine. The motor is in now, refer to build thread in sig.

the reason why its like that is because of the hydro transmission...use a valve spring and use it as a washer for the bolt.

I just don't get why people who don't like what they read in the forums don't just get the F*@# OUT !!! Why must you comment like a bunch of winding little bitches in here. Just read and leave if you think its so stupid. Instead you pass comments that are a waste of space in here.
