Default which is the better type of weld or is it just the same?, slip fit weld vs beveled edge butt weld

i was just wondering and would appreciate your answer/reasoning as to why, if, one is preferred over the other.

also, which type of welding works best with which one, or is it just the same? maybe its a convenience to use the slip fit method and then weld, compared to the other because it holds/stays in place?

discuss...

A welded slip fit will generally be stronger....but a butt joint is a lot easier and in most cases strong enough if properly welded.
