Default Advice on welder to weld sheet metal.

Im looking to do some welding work on my rear panel. I was looking around for a welder and decided to go with the Holbart Handler 140. Will this welder work good for what I need to do? And also, will I need to run a tank to weld up my panel? I heard it was reccomended, but I read in a auto body book that it doesnt matter. Can someone help me out?

You will be much happier with gas shielding. Less splatter and less contamination.
