Default ok got a question for you guys

alright i was asked to help this kid get his civic running he has a B16a block with a B18a non vtec head and wants to know why it wont start. i have told him to check his timing and to make sure it is all lined up

BUT HERE IS MY QUESTION

I have build 4 motors now but i have never seen a B16a block with a B18a head
will they mate up and work???

It will bolt up, and even run. You might just have a nice big oil leak at the rear of the block though. VTEC blocks have an oil passage back there that mates up with VTEC heads. Non-VTEC blocks and heads do not have them.

Just like B19 said, yes they will mate up, but what is the point?

itll run but hes gonna have a nice sized oil leak right where the vtec solenoid would be if he was using the right head. hes better off just getting ahold of a b16 head and slapping it on.
