ZC or D16a6 or somthing else, im friggin confused.
Okay, I decided even though I love my d15b2...(yeah right) it has to go, its just not going to be living much longer even with alot of maitnence.(202,000 miles, burns oil needs oil change every 2000 miles, tranny grinds somtimes, clutch is pract. gone) so I need somthing new and fresh.
Im keeping this car forever and Ill prob. put somthing really really nice in it somday like an all motor b18c. But until then I need somthing that is reliable for highway driving and can get me down the street quicker then the dx motor.
Of course Ive thought about buying the ZC and I prob. will, Im decsently mechanicaly sound, so Id feel comfortable doing the swap. I would get the zc motor, tranny, and find some integra axles and ECU.
Otherwise, my friend has a wrecked 90 SI. 130,000 miles, great condition, good clutch good tranny. Now, I could just buy his entire everything for around 400-500. ECU, axles, tranny, and long block.
What would you do go cheap and buy the D16a6 or spend a lil extra cash and get the ZC and ZC tranny. BTW how much would I be looking to spend for a 88-89 teg ecu and axles?
Either way im charging it lol...my checking account only has about 700 in it and Im saving that for my suspension. So I can get away with spending a lil extra money just as long as I dont go over oh say 750....??? at most keep it under 1000.

BTW if I do go the ZC route, the thought of taking it out down the road and totally rebuilding it and turboing it has been dancing in my head and will prob. be what I do. Id love to have a non-vtec 1.6 out on the road tearing it up.
I'd say...(my opinion)
Rebuild the D16A6 for mild boost.
Just do some researsh...buy a helms...and get some part's.
Don't reseleve the thing, but just get it bored...put some eagle's, SRP's, and good honda rebuild part's....cost? about 1000.
then... as the engine is getting broken in...save up some money for a 14B HF mani turbo setup...and do a simple rising rate regulator setup at first.
Then as you get more fund's...just keep throwing some small part's in there. (IE...intercooler...fuel pump...AFC 450cc setup)
That's what "I" would do NE way's

i was kinda thinking about this more and more, I fig. my d15b will last all summer where Ill make alot of money in the meantime Ill buy my friends motor the d16a6 and build it up. Hey I found a 86 teg motor at the junkyard, how hard would it be to install and would it be worth it mileage was only like 109,000. but I think it had a bad headgasket(no biggie).
I fig. id have time to tune-up the d16a6, build it up a lil and ill still be able to retain all my bolt-ons right now, intake and exhaust. easily.

Ill think about it seriously its just harder to find one IMO. If you know of any right off the top of your head that check out okay, email me or write it here, my friend just wrecked his 96 hatch with a d16y8 in it, we thought it would get totalled and I was going to get his entire motor(only 30,000 miles, act clutch) for 650. But the insurance company decided to repair it ALL, so hes just going to sell it but for more then I can afford.

$1000 huh? That's a bit misleading. Honda rebuild parts is over $500 and that's a good price. Srp and eagles and a boring does not cost $500. And you're telling him to do some research.

You might just say well there is a few 25 dollar parts. in actuallity if you have ever done a complete buildup then youll realized there is about 50 25 dollar parts tou buy when you figure out you dont have them or need to replace etc.
It's a guesstimate Ok!!
Hell you want me to just name an exact damn price for him!!
HERE YA GO......it's going to be EXACTLY.....$1,234.45 + a 5 dollar service/handiling fee, for everything your going to need.
See my point? all rebuild's/build's/setup's are going to be priced WAY differently depending on everything from where you got the part's, what part's you acctually needed to replace.
All I was trying to do is set a visual money baseline to backup my overall statment in the post.

LOL, im glad someone caught that I love that part too, sean smith is so ******* halarious, but IM a big Jason lee fan(brody) so I watch all those movies.
Well I got a good deal on the d16a6, well actually im buying the entire wrecked car for 500 becuase the engine is still in pristine condition and the interior besides the seats that I already took, there is stil alot left with it, wheels, dash, a fender, ALOT.
So im buying that, Ill prob. spend more money on the suspension and then maybe throw on a 50 shot.
