Greddy SP2 Exhaust for 90 CRX Si
Hey guys, just wondering if anyone here has Greddy SP2 Cat back exhaust system on their Rex. What is the exhaust note like and is it obnoxiously loud? I have the stock D16A6 motor in it and its time for me to purchase a new exhaust system to compliment my complete factory restored CRX.
I am up in Canada but I'm not sure if there are any reputable dealers that you guys can recommend to buy from in the US (Canadian dollar is doing so well and likely cheaper to buy from US for this exhaust system). My local dealer in town wants $500 for the complete SP2 catback which I think is pretty reasonable but I want to get everyone's opinion on a well built and relative quite exhaust system for a very decent price.
Suggestions?
Thanks

both of those clips are at WOT. (and IIRC no catalytic converters on either car)
but.... on a relatively stock sohc engine (d16a6) it'll sound much quieter especially just putting around.

if you could have a dc2 sports exhaust or a greddy sp2 what would be your choice?
I think dc2 many years ago used to make exhaust systems for CRX's no?

yeah the sp2 sounds pretty good.
any reputable dealers in the US that are worth buying from?
I'm up in Canada so I'm not sure who I should be buying from.
But for $500 here at my local dealer that doesn't seem so expensive anymore.
Thanks

Trust me $500.00 retail is pretty much the norm on that exhaust as far as good pricing goes, you won't beat that price after you have to have it shipped it yourself across the border. I used to sale GReddy products and can tell from experience this price is very good for where you are (thats good for us in the states now even)
I myself have had GReddy exhaust on 5 of my 6 hondas (HKS being the other) and could not be happier with the sound and quality of there systems, awesome sound throughout the entire power band. Not to loud until WOT and even them it sounds deep instead of the infamous raspy sound cheap exhaust having hondas are known for.
I have the sp2 on my CRX and I also got one for CRX toad a couple years ago. He was VERY picky about the same issues about sound and quality, he LOVES his and may even chime in to concur

Ahh, the original Sp system! I had that on my '88 Si back in 98', Loved it!

I have the SP as well, but it has a rolled tip on it rather than the smooth one like the one on the Black CRX above..

The CRX sits most of the time since I work so much but i get to drive it once in a while. The CRX has an Ls in it and the SP gets pretty loud when you romp on it...its a bit raspy compared to other exhausts ive ran like my HKS or Tanabe Racing medalion...Both of those exhausts had 2 resonators opposed to one like the SP.
Great exhaust none the less...def not the most quiet.

I too have a Trust SP exhaust still on my CRX..great quality and fitment..if you are afraid of noises..you can put an extra resonator in to keep the noise down..but my SP is real quiet, almost like stock and I have a B18A motor..

my exhaust actually said "trust" on it.... not greddy.
what's the difference?

Trust/Greddy is the same company. Trust is the first gen, the old school, now known as Greddy. RSR is as well is an excellent exhaust. A buddy at work have a RSR exhaust on his 91 Integra and it sounded awesome to me. RSR would be the first exhaust I'll buy first if something ever happens to my Trust/Greddy SP.

i knew that actually. i just wanted to know what the major differences were between the 1st gen and 2nd gen exhaust.

Not sure on that one. But I assumes newer design, and better technologies go into improving SP2. SP2 might have better performance since it's a newer version, and Trust SPs are discontinued

Well I had both versions and I noticed the Sp2 is ALOT lighter than the original Sp was. Not sure but I think the Sp2 may even have a bit larger piping, and of course the rolled tip vs. the tapered tip on the orginal Sp.
The bigget diff though really has to be how much lighter the Sp2 is now due to the damand of lightweight products in recent years (compared to mid 90s that is)

Your crazy man but I like it.
I have the SP2 and most people say the tip is too big. Mine is quiet even after break in, at WOT you can hear it but it is not annoying. And I have never had a DB issue at any tracks.

I had the SP2 exhaust on my b16 crx and I got nothing but compliments. During track days instructors would come over to me and compliment me on how my car was the most enjoyable to listen to at the track. It was quiet for long trips (I did several road trips) and it sound great all the way to 9k rpms.
I think the SP2 is the ideal exhaust for the CRX, I wouldn't have any other.

x2 on that
I've had toyota guys and others as well compliment mine, I even had a few people follow me to my destination just to ask what exhaust I was running cause they just loved the sound as went down the road. always makes me happy to hear that

Different for sure, but I gotta say I'm not hatin it. looks like a very clean install as well
The tip I guess grows on ya, it used to look almost to big to me as well but now after having it for a while, I really like it.
