Default My Del sol died with a check engine light?

Okay im new to this forum. My name is tosca, i drive a 1995 del sol SiR replica. I was driving down the road the other day and my check engine light came on and the car died. I still had power meaning all the lights, radio and etc turned on and off. My altenator belt and battery are fine. My friend told me that it could be my timing but wouldnt it have to skip a serious amount for it to just turn off? The car wont start, it cranks but doesnt turn over could it be the ignition or coil pack? but why would the car just die out like that in the middle of me driving it? The car is a 1995 honda del sol Si was d16 sohc vtec, but now is swaped with a full jdm b16 swap. Let me kno what u guys think.. if u are heavily mechanicly inclined break down the stronger words i kno most terminology but it would save me time to ask someone or reply ? lol thanks for your time and imput....

But wouldnt the battery light come on and let the car run off of the batteries life then die?

best bet its the ignition coil. get one from a friends distributor and try it on yours.

my car died on me while i was driving too and wouldnt start as well. all the electronics work and had fuel and spark. Got it towed to honda and they said it was the ignition coil. got it replaced... 300 bucks later...

if the distributors on all the B-series motors are the same (i'm not sure on that)... then i think it wouldnt be a problem.

this can help you point out where the ignition coil is if you dont know...

if the timing belt busted youd be in for it, whens the last time it was changed? cause thats the only other reason i could see the car just dieing but everything else working...take the valve cover off and look at your cam gears see if you can see a belt if you cant then guess what its broken ( or its very loose ) trust me youll know

Thanks for all of your imput.... My grandpa fixed it, it was a bad fuse for the ecu but it kept blowing... everytime we switched it with a new one. Then i realized it could be cut off switch, thats what it was the wire went bad that was connected to the switch so it was blowing the fuses so no more cut off switch lol thanks again guys.....
