Default Type S cams for US spec H22A

I have a friend with a 2001 base model Lude. He has Type S cams, Vtec AFC, I/E, and pulleys. His car has gotten NOTICABLY slower, and Ive read quite a few times about the negatives associated with the Type S cams although I cant seem to find anything on the search.

Please post your experiences, information, comments, etc, because he is almost sure that the cams are not the cause for the performance decrease.

TIA.

has he increased the compression? If not, then this is probably his issue.

I'd say use the type-S pistons as well with the camshafts, that's what I did and milled a little off the head. I'm running a little over 12:1 compression and I have no problems out of the cams, I still need dyno tuning tho.

Can you cover the differences in the Type-S camshaft vs. a regular H22a camshaft?

yes....please give more details. I remember reading quote a few post about the negative aspects of swapping US spec h22a camshafts for the JDM camshafts.

My friend recently had his valves adjustment done, and afterwards, he asks the mechanic if the head looked fine, or if it looked like something was wrong due to the cams.

The mechanic said that everything looked fine, and that there wasnt any metal debris floating around so it should be fine, although I am skeptical.
