You're question is extremely vague.

Is this going to be a drag car?

3rd and 4th move you forward just like 5th does.

If you don't know why your car has different gear ratios, you have no business building a custom-geared transmission.

the tranny's are geared differently to meet the powerbands of the engines. b16's like to rev to make their power that's why they have very short ratio tranny's. gsr's on the otherhand have a much better midrange so they have a slighty longer geared tranny to help use that powerband better.

but i thought the shorter you gear ratio the better advantage you take of any torque you got going.

okay shorter gear ratios are better for short distance. because if u havent noticed when u shift to 4th on a b16, its lame as a camry, not to even mention 5th

Alot of people change there 5th gear so they can save gas while cruising (considering most people dont shift into 5th at a race track). But if you never messed with transmissions i dont recommend it.
